I realize that, I'm just saying that in effect, keeps me cool. Similar to what's happening with the dog, just not as efficient (especially since they don't sweat). I agree it's not going to be like an AC, I just don't think that it's going to be 140 degrees back there. Again, I don't think it's the best way to travel with your dog. I wouldn't do it and am not condoning it. But I don't think it completely warrants a freak out response.

That's what I thought of when I saw the dogs on the trailers. Horses get transported everyday like that. Why not dogs?

Really? Horse trailers are made of structural steel to support thousands of pounds of horses. If it gets in a fender bender it might get scratched. That plastic kennel and dog are toast if they get in a wreck.

No problem with this, its worse to let your dog ride in your lap while driving. I'm pretty sure a dog needs to be restrained inside the vehicle as well per louisiana law?

Hilarious!!

Good enough for my boat, good enough for the dog.

If location in or on a vehicle equates love, my Dad hated my arse. I never even got the place behind the cab where the wind was off of you.

How often do you get rear-ended? Wait, never mind.

Seriously, though. The odds aren't that great.

Didn't Mittens carry the dog atop the family station wagon? Seems like it could get cold up there in Boston, or Michigan.

Those pictured methods seems better to me than loose in the bed of a pick-up.

Gonna be a rough ride back there. Those things bounce around a good bit from what I've seen.

Loose in the back of a SUV isn't much safer. Especially with a big dog. Don't want a 80 pound dog flying around the cab during a wreck.

Years ago, we were evacuating a hurricane, traveling from Covington to Jackson, Ms. I loaded all I could in the Suburban. I think we had 2-3 dogs, me, the wife and 3 kids. We had a damn bird too, so I put the bird in a carry cage in the cab and his big everyday cage on the luggage rack strapped with some bungy cords. I found a fake yellow parakeet and tied it to the perch in the cage. We got some pretty funny looks hauling arse up I-55.

Horse trailers are a lot bigger and can handle way more than those little trailers.

But who plans on wrecking anyway? Saying, I wont put my dog here because I might get in a wreck is kinda weird to me. If I should think that way then ill never put my kids in a vehicle again because we may get in a wreck.

this is better than people letting their dogs go unrestrained in their car or in the back of the truck

its cruel as shite, but at least the dog isn't distracting the driver like an unrestrained dog inside

or it doesn't become a fricking projectile when it jumps out of the bed of the truck
