I think it would make good tv for some but not others.
Some people would really appreciate them actually hunting the deer, having to scout areas out and all.
Maybe they can teach people more than to hire a guide in a deer zoo that tells them "ok we've been seeing a big buck in this food plot. Hunt here."

Not all deer shows are like that.

Predator quest is pretty cool. I don't ever watch at home but sometimes at the camp, it's on in the background.

I currently watch Uncle Ted (because he really loves to bow hunt), Jim Shockey (because of all the places he travels to and exotic animals that he hunts), and Pigman (because I find him entertaining). I used to really enjoy Heartland Bowhunter but it went downhill fast after the main guy (Jeff) left the show after the first couple of seasons.

Uncle Ted was busted on PoW Island doing semi-canned bear hunts. Believe they also got him on Lacey Act violations.

Oh yeah, he had a huge PSA on one of his shows after it happened. I believe it was part of his penalty.

Interestingly enough, I feel the same way about high fences.

Idk if anyone here has seen the new show Uncharted on the Outdoor Channel. I've seen the 1st 2 episodes. I've really enjoyed them. It's a pretty cool look at hunting in a much different manner than most here are likely used to. It is also the exact opposite of high fence hunting as the OP mentioned. Much more along the lines of dragging a 150# basket buck through the swamp (however the swamp is in Papua New Guinea).

Steven Rinella seems to be somewhat legit. I've only seen a couple of his shows but it's a bit different than your average hunting show.

I've always liked Jim Shockey, although I don't think I would want to be stuck in a car with him for a long period. He's a little odd. That dude spends some serious cash on his hunts, though. Makes you wonder if he doesnt have some other huge family money or something.

His daughter is an OB 14 though.

Met him a few times in Saskatchewan and odd is definitely appropriate.

He was a bit of a running joke up there a decade ago when I hunted there. His site would post pics of the deer his clients killed and scores of mainframe 4x4 racks that allegedly scored 150-160+. Getting an 8 point above 140 is really quite rare. The joke around Saskatoon was that Shockey's measuring was done in the metric system i.e. centimeters.

Mostly bird hunting but I do watch some salt/bay fishing too. And I can't stand the high fiving, laughing crap. Too damn many commercials too.

As long as we can all agree that the Flyway Highway guys are absolutely intolerable. Yes, they seem like super nice dudes, but those accents and super rehearsed lines make me want to shoot one of those mallards they're working from my lazy boy.
