Designing a cartridge for an AR platform

I am currently working on developing a short 338 caliber cartidge that is more powerful than the 5.56 nato and 7.62x5/7.62x39. I want it to be more accurate than all 3
Currently I plan on it firing 300 grain SMK (Sierra match King) projectiles @ 2550 FPS, which is 4331 ft lbs of energy at the muzzle
I want the recoil to be manageable, and I do not want this round falling into the same category as a .50 Beowulf and .450 bushmaster. I want this to be an anti personnel round rather than a anti vehicle round (like the two I just mentioned)
I want this round to be dead accurate beyond 500 yards out of an 18 inch barrel AR configuration
What do you guys think? There already is a 338 spectre, but this passes it up

Be careful. Also, 4331 is 185 grain VLD .30-378 range with 28 inch barrel. I don't know if that is possible...
Edit: yeah, that won't happen actually.

The hornady ballistics calculator told me that.

A 300 grain projectile at those velocities? That thing would be a cannon. I doubt an AR could hold up to that.

Yeah, you plugged in numbers. It isn't even possible. 300 grain Scenar .338LM out of a 20 inch will do a little over 2600. It is a huge case. No way you will get that same velocity with a shorter barrel and that much less powder to burn. Just won't happen from an Ar15 platform.

What your drinking baw? This idea of yours is not exactly feasible. You want a heavy bullet...pick a 458 or 50b. You want a 30 cal...go 308. You want a crappy intermediate cartridge...get a dam ak.

.50 Beowulf can shoot a 300 gr bullet at a max of ~ 1832ft/ sec
A .338 caliber even in a necked down .50 Beowulf won't get you anywhere close.
I really don't think you could get that in an AR-10 platform and its longer bullet capacity even if you were able to get more case capacity like the beowulf does.

Exactly, his figures would be a good bit more energy than even the hottest .300 win mag loads. No way you could get close to that even if you use an AR-10 platform.

That's some real pie in the sky stuff right there

You should sell this to the military after creation.
I'm guessing 2000fps is your ceiling for that bullet. Which would still be outrageous.

I'm assuming you're planning this for the AR10 platform. I'd think a reasonable upper limit would be 308 Win based cases. The 338 Federal (308 Win necked up to 338 caliber) will do 2660 fps w/ a 200 gr bullet. The 358 Win (308 case w/ 35 cal bullet) pushes a 250 gr bullet to 2490 fps.
According to the Sierra Reloading Data Manual, the 338 Win Mag does a 300 grain bullet at only 2400 fps, but from a 21.5" barrel. To get to 2660 fps, you'd need a 338 Remington Ultra Mag, 79.5 grains of IMR 4831 (for comparison, the max 223 Remington loads will usually use around 25 gr of powder) and 26" of barrel. I don't think it can safely be done (which is why you've not read of someone else already having done it). Be safe.
