decoy retrieval ideas

I got some access to a new area to hunt in the marsh. It's got a lot of landlocked ponds. I'd like to figure out something to where I don't have to haul my pirogue in there to pick up my dekes (can't walk to them). I was thinking maybe rig a big treble hook to a rope, then toss it out to them when I'm done, but I was wondering if you OB fellers had any better ideas.

Drones with hooks. Make it like one of those claw games.

I always used a Zarro spook

Get a decoy retriever.

I will sell you my 10 month old chocolate lab. That bastard brought back 2 decoys to me last weekend.

Maybe there is some way you can sort of have a tether to the decoys and you can just pull them in from the bank

I am not a duck hunter but this is the first thing that comes to mind.
Here is what I would do man. Take some decoy line and put some small s-clips like you see at the checkout line at BassPro or Homedepot at intervals or however you want them spaced and tie a knot around them. then clip a decoy to the s-clip using the weight line so its free to sink.
Put however many decoys per line and trow de decoys out. Tie the s-clip line to a tree or something and when you get ready to leave just pull each line in.
Like I said, I dont duck hunt but I like to solve problems. Hope that helps, let me know how that works out if you think its worth trying.

Could be a problem with the dog getting caught up in the line when swimming

If you can't get the decoys, how are you going to get any ducks you knock down? Do you have a dog?

True. Didnt think of that.
BUT?
Figured the line would sink to the bottom where the weights were with the s-Clips free to move on the weight line.
Think of a trott line. you could move the clips all the way down the length of a line if it wasnt for the balls they put on the main line to keep that from happening.

dogs get decoys now? He has a dog to get his ducks but he doesn't have a boat to get his decoys.

this thread has delivered.
Yes, I have a dog. She learned at a very young age to stay well away from decoys, or I'd be looking to do what CootKilla is trying to do.
I don't want to rig up any kind of gang rig, just because I'm really anal about how my decoys are set and I think a bunch of ducks in a line look really fake.
I can't use a decoy hook just because I don't think they make one long enough to get out there, and if they did, I wouldn't wanna pack it back into the marsh.
So far, best ideas are:
1.) treble hook.
2.) drones with claws.

Remote controlled boat with a tail hook. Put a decoy over it, when you finish hunting, round up time. Could also be used to enhance your spread by stirring up your pond. Your welcome.

I think your best bet is def in line with the treble hook idea. Some way either on a large spinning reel or some decoy line that you can throw a good ways. I also agree the gang rig would look stupid in your small potholes, those work on big water divers and that's it.

You have obviously never flown over an area that held a bunch of ducks. They line up OFTEN when going to and from areas and on open water. Most natural thing. Flying off shore in choppers we seen it in the marsh all the time, you could actually pick out decoy spreads so easy over live ducks.....Taught me a lot about putting out a spread

Hunted a deep lake once. Had to put out trot line style because we hunted the middle of the lake and it was over 20 ft. Deep. Ang then put some singles in the mix and worked out fine.

It won't solve the problem but I highly recommend wearing stocking foot waders over boot foot when doing walk-in marsh hunting. Fricking boot foot waders always get suctioned off my foot.

No, this sonuvabitch had it in his mouth. I didn't do anything to him on the first one since that was his first hunt in that blind. But the second time I think I broke the decoy on his head. He didn't touch one after that.
ETA. I thought papa pogey was talking to me.

This is true. I like to put my decoys in lines/runs forming a V with the blind at the tip of the V. The ducks usually come in the middle of the V and land/attempt to land.
