Bought house and deck out back was already painted same color as house. It's Looking pretty bad now and needs to be re-painted.

Any recs for paint type or brand. Would like to avoid having to paint every year.

I asked a guy about this at the paint store.

Said to use tide or some other detergent and scrub brush and clean really well. Then get some good primer for the type of material your deck is. He said oil base is better to use, but hard to clean up anything you don't want paint on.

Need to do this myself. I looked into the rustoleum deck paint that has sand in it or whatever. It seemed a little tedious, so I'm just going to paint it with a good latex paint.

latex seems like a bad idea. I imagine it will be peeling in no time. Save the latex for your walls and condoms.

I am interested in this as well. I bought a house about three years ago. The 400 sq ft deck with benches around the perimeter and a swing was a big selling point for the wife.

Now it needs to be painted or sealed. It's like this monster in the back yard that I try to avoid but I know if I don't do something it will just get worse.

I like to stain with TWP, use a foam finger roller. Stuff goes on like a OT knife though butter.

How often do you have to reapply?

ETA: Do you use the 100 or 1500 series?

I have a 16x30 above ground pool deck (saltwater pool), I don't think it matters what the guarantee is in this climate I am lucky to get 2yrs out of 5yr product. I am having someone else stain it for me this year PITA.

I've considered getting some meximens to do it for me but I'm not sure how good they would do.

1500, depending on the sun on the deck every year or two.

Sherwin Williams has a deck paint for porches, flooring, etc. It is recommended to be applied directly to wood, no primer. It is an acrylic, basically cleans up like latex but acts like an oil.

I just applied it to my steps and porches. It's pricey at ~$50/gal
