You won't buy from CTD because they were, "just being a capitalist which is what this great country was founded upon". That doesn't make any sense.
It makes perfect sense. I am sure that someone at CTD made a conscious business decision that they would make more money in the short run by jacking up prices during the crisis than the money they would lose from potential customers like myself no longer shopping with them. Whereas other companies took the opposite approach and decided that they didn't want to risk losing future business by capitalizing on the crisis. It isn't anything personal, just a business decision. For the sake of comparison, CTD isn't the only place in town where you can buy heating oil during a snowstorm that then jacks up the price of heating oil because they have a monopoly in the marketplace. That would be reprehensible. In this instance, there were any number of different places to go and buy ammunition during the crisis that did not jack their prices up beyond the normal increase in their direct cost.

I think he was responding to you saying you turned it around for profit...Looks like you didnt but if you agree with doing that and then you go on with your spiel about CTD raising prices.... then yes you are a hypocrite.
Not really. I didn't say I disagreed with CTD raising their prices. Obviously it was a business decision on their part. What I said was that I choose to not do business with them in the future for that reason. I will reward companies that didn't take that position with my business in the future. Like I said in a subsequent post, they aren't the only game in town where you can buy ammunition. It would be different if they had a monopoly on the supply and then jacked up the prices.

Right i thought you were the one that said that. My bad.

Meh...You can call me a douchebag all you want..
I invested time and money going to find ammunition when it was scarce while you sat on your arse waiting for the political climate to change.
At the end of the day, I have ammo in case it ever becomes scarce again to shoot or hunt with. And you will want it. Your lack of foresight makes you vulnerable to an ever changing market.
But yea, those people selling land for 4000/acre vs the 1000/acre it was 15 yrs ago are big ol douchebags too.

Not price gouging on a fair market. Its not like i was in line in front of him and bought the last box then turned around to charge him double
Its a long term investment with fluctuating ROI based on current market conditions.
And prices go up when you add expenses such as labor and fuel. Im not going to sell my ammunition at a loss cause ol jimmy didnt want to wake up and stand in line like everyone else.
But thats usually how it works. The have nots call the haves names because they didnt take advantage of the same opportunities when they had the chance

What's wrong with price gouging?

you really can't stop a zombie with a .22, so I can't fathom all the hoarding of this particular ammo.
I have about 150 rounds of .22, which should last me several years on squirrels, bunnies and such.

IMO...if you are price gouging a life necessity, then it is wrong to take advantage of people in a life or death situation
if you are "price gouging" a commodity... a "want" per se, those people can live without it. It isn't necessary to sustain life thus simply a choice they make to either purchase at what they consider fair market value, or decline to purchase and shop elsewhere.
Comparing price gouging ammunition to price gouging fuel while people are traveling from a hurricane, or water during a drought is obtuse at best.

The .22lr is a round that has historically been used in executions by the mob because it isn't as messy to clean up afterwards. What makes you think it would be less effective on the head of an undead rotting corpse?

"But yea, those people selling land for 4000/acre vs the 1000/acre it was 15 yrs ago are big ol douchebags too."
Nah, the REAL douchbags are those that INHERITED the $500 land and now selling for $5000.
I talk to people all the time that get pissed of when someone wants to make a tidy profit on land. They go to the Clerk's office and find out what the guy paid for the land then they decide he's a crook if he wants the going rate. Cracks me up!
