Need some 101 basic tips. Got some on my lease that I hear regularly.
Is it best to hunt at night, rather the day time ??

TIA

Early morning or late evening. Get an electronic call and a mojo rabbit decoy. Call with rabbit distress. Some other posters probably have better info on what calling sequences to use.

Make sure you are concealed and do not move.

Are they killing your goats, chickens, etc.? If not, what's the point in killing them? Just for fun?

Do you have any idea what coyotes do to the fawn crop?

I believe they are hammering the deer. Population has dropped and we've hardly shot deer the last few years. Quite sure they are part of that reason

It seems like yote population problems are more prevalent around settled areas. Seems like if your get away from civilization their numbers go down dramatically. Seem this way to anyone else?

Does it seem like I used seem too much?

I live in the country. Closest neighbor is over mile. I've got coyotes packs in all four directions. Shoot them out the bedroom window when they get on my chick chicks

Seems like the appropriate number of seems

No, completely disagree.

We have a terrible problem. I just put up a camera on a doe carcass last night. About to set two foot hold traps near it. Saw a yote this evening, killed two already this year. Heard a pack of 5-10 this afternoon. After turkey hunting in Texas and seeing how bad they are on turkeys and deer, I shoot every chance I get

We never saw any growing up on Kisatchie. Back border was Kisatchie. Only a few times I ever heard any at night. I grew up 10 miles from the closest town. On the outskirts of that town, they were thick.

Don't get me wrong. I don't kill for fun, but if any animal is threatening any food source of mine it's dead.

If you have night vision. Then hunt at night, as they are more active. Use amplified distress call & action decoys. I'd use a can if available.

Foxpro call and a gut pile for slam dunk fun. Night is always better than daytime, but you can still lay them out in the daylight with dumb enough dogs and calls/decoys.

The little crippled rabbit decoys work great and electronic calls work great. Gut piles help.

I think they're far harder on rabbits than anything.

That said, I think it would take a very serious coyote infestation to really hurt the deer. Coyotes are just not that formidable of a predator. Feral dogs and wolves are different, but I can't see a coyote doing much damage to the deer population.

I like to rabbit hunt though, so I shoot most of the coyotes I see and every feral dog gets blasted. Shooting coyotes is fun as hell. They call and decoy well but you still have to be smart to kill any number of them.
