Also looks like the Hurricane model is a couple hundred bucks cheaper than the Slayer version

OK, so which of these is known for a short distance from seat to pedals? Think ten year old legs.

Quick glance I noticed that the Hurricane version does not have flush mount rod holders and the Slayer LT does have them. There may be more details like this causing the price difference.

If you are on Facebook, join the Bayou Coast Kayak Fishing Club group and search it for a guy named Noel Blanton. He just recently posted a picture of his young son fishing out of a Slayer Propel 13. May be able to ask him some questions. Let me see if I can get a link to the picture to work for you.

I would think the 13 would be similar circumstance then, not too sure about the others.

That 10 is for my friend's son of the same age. Watching that poor kid pedal against the wind at GI last year in the bull event was painful.

When I got my Outback my son was 12. Mirage drive is adjustable and he had no problems. Also, your just pushing with your feet which is a shorter motion than the bicycle motion. On the flip side, I'm really looking forward to the upcoming Jackson and Feel Free.

Eh, different strokes for different folks.

It's certainly a different fishing. When I sold my flats boat, I got a PA12. It was different and actually a lot easier sometimes to catch reds. They never spooked. But if they weren't there that day, it sacked.

I will say it wasn't my cup of tea. I sold my yak after about 9 months. I paid 2700 all in and sold for 2200. Can't believe they are up to 3500 now. I would get a gheenoe if I had to do it again. I could actually launch my flats boat and be on the water alone faster than getting my yak set up and dragged to the water (I admit I'm not a minimalist, so that. Was an issue).

This is the first ear since I've moved that I'm really getting the itch to go sight fish again (to the point of wanting my own boat). Just booked a trip for bone fish and tarpon in Islamorada. May have to look up the gheenoe again and learn Texas redfishing.

So Masseys stopped carrying FeelFree. I was just in there and asked them why and the girl said that they were the only ones made overseas and they were having issues with boats splitting at seams. After chatting with her I'm strongly leaning towards the Jackson Coosa FD. The flex drive sounds like it has a lot of advantages. I won't be able to get one probably until July or August if I don't preorder though and I'm not ordering anything without demoing first.

If Dave wants to order the FD's he better soon because most buyers already put orders in atleast 6 months ago and so it will take a couple months for Jackson to fill all of them before he can even get any in.

I'm waiting til year 2 on the Coosa FD. I want to see some reviews first. That's disappointing about the Feel Free. I've heard good things about them and followed their Facebook fan page.

"Catching" is more fun in a kayak. However if the fish aren't biting and it's hot, windy, etc it's better to be in a boat. Totally different style of fishing. Got one mainly so I could keep it in my apartment and ending up really liking it.

Picked up Manta Ray Propel in lizard lick yesterday for my son. My Slayer may get little use now. Good to see Native putting paddle holder on their boats now. That's my only complaint with the Slayer. Only issue after one use with the Manta Ray is, no forward space for stuff.
