I've narrowed down my search to these two. I have shot the Shield but not the Kahr so I don't have first hand knowledge of the difference between the two. Give me some additional feedback please.

Let the debate begin!

Well, did you like it? Did it feel comfortable to shoot and handle? If so, you can't go wrong with the Shield IMHO. Love mine.

find a way to shoot the Kahr, they are nice guns, but some are not a fan of the trigger pull. Hard to go wrong with a shield.

Get both and carry them both crossdraw style like a god damn cowboy.

This was obviously my plan B.

I went shield because it was easily the most comfortable gun to carry.

Not necessarily. But I will speak highly of my own personal CM9. The thing has seen 1000s of rounds and continues to run. It also hasn't been cleaned in 100s of rounds and is bone dry. That may not be the smartest thing but I have no doubts that it will continue to fire.

I'd say your dilemma is a good one to have in that both are quality guns. But notice that the prices are very comparable and with the Shield you get an extra magazine.

Both are in the same category (single stack, subcompact 9mm) but the CM9 is a bit smaller. It is probably the most reliable micro 9 that I have fired. But with the lower weight means it is more difficult to shoot and the trigger pull, while smooth, is not as crisp and short as the Shield.

If you're sticking with a gun that will be strictly carried inside your waistband, I would go with the Shield. It has slightly more weight and a capacity advantage while maintaining the same thickness. If you're looking for a gun that can easily fit in some pockets, I would go with the CM9. It won't fit in ALL pockets, but I can get it to fit in some.

Either way you go, both are quality-made American handguns and will serve you well in your carry rotation.

So what's a reasonable price range for each of these?

And thanks for the feedback

You should easily be able to find either one for $400 or less.

Slickguns.com, seems like at least once a week some site has a 9mm Shield on there for $337-339. Read the fine print though on whether it has or lacks the thumb safety. Gunbuyer.com specifically will also have free shipping at that price.

I own the CM9 and the CW380. They compliment each other well.

Have owned and put a couple thousand rounds through each. I feel like the kahr was of better quality but I don't own it anymore. The shield is a handy little gun and pretty easy to shoot well.

The shield is actually one that I would leave alone. Its trigger is considerably better than it's full sized counterparts for some reason.
