You have a permit? They reciprocate if that's what you are asking.

MS is a constitutional carry state, but businesses can post no firearms signs and preempt that because if private property laws. Our enhanced carry license gets you around that. Also, we are a reciprocity state. There's some more places you can't carry too if you want to look into it but it's the usual suspects like jails schools etc. Don't know about AL.

You should have a list of states that allow you to conceal carry

Alabama reciprocates as well. Keep it strapped on if you wish. I usually put mine in the console on long trips.

You're good to go for conceal carry here in Florida. Reciprocal agreement between the states.

As has been noted, MS, AL & FL honor LA permits.

Folks who lack a permit have to essentially unload/disarm (separate guns from ammo) while traveling through AL.

I thought Alabama changed this law recently, but I could be wrong.

Could be. I hope so (i.e. I hope the law was changed).

My reply was based on the info listed at handgunlaw.us.

I'll try to do some homework and see if there's been a law change.

ETA: I went to the State of Alabama Attorney General's website and confirmed the info posted previously - people who lack a CCW permit must have gun unloaded that is locked in a separate compartment:

Section 13A-11-73

Permit to carry pistol in vehicle or concealed on person - Required; possession of unloaded pistol in motor vehicle.

(a) Except on land under his or her control or in his or her own abode or his or her own fixed place of business, no person shall carry a pistol in any vehicle or concealed on or about his or her person without a permit issued under Section 13A-11-75(a)(1) or recognized under Section 13A-11-85.

(b) Except as otherwise prohibited by law, a person legally permitted to possess a pistol, but who does not possess a valid concealed weapon permit, may possess an unloaded pistol in his or her motor vehicle if the pistol is locked in a compartment or container that is in or affixed securely to the vehicle and out of reach of the driver and any passenger in the vehicle.
