FYI...

I took my concealed carry class 9/10. Filled out my application online 9/11. Got fingerprinted on 9/12.

This morning I received my email stating I was approved and should receive my permit in 10-15 days.

Did you send in the prints or did you do it at the LSP HQ?

Congrats.

The longest step is getting approved after getting fingerprinted at LSP. Mine finally showed up. Mine was about a 3-4 week timeline.

I carry without a permit since it's my constitutional right.

Yeah same here. Took the class and mailed my stuff in July. The worst part is I don't even have confirmation that they have my stuff, even if it's just chillin in a stack of envelopes.

I'm about to move to a new house next month so my mailing address and all will be wrong, and I have no way to get it updated before it's mailed.

Yea I found out the online submission is the way to go.

Dont worry about new address. I moved during my process and its no big deal. Your CHP will just have your old address on it. It wont hold anything up. NBD.

Great....yet in this instance we are talking concealed carry which in Louisiana is illegal without a permit at the moment at least.

Does anyone know if the LSP in the Alexandria Regional Office do electronic fingerprints or is it only the one in Baton Rouge?

It is possible that the LSP troop in Alec would do an AFIS electronic print and print it on a card for you (although you'd have much better luck with this at Rapides Parish SO I'd bet). However the reason to go to the LSP HQ in BR is that when they take your prints there is no printing it, they are processed directly into the system. This is where the time is saved. If you mail in an electronic print your electronic print goes in the same stack as the ink rolled prints.

ETA If you do decide to get your prints printed then make sure you bring some FBI fingerprint cards with you....I've been hearing that some of the SO's don't have them.

Hate to tell you this, Black, but you're gonna be waiting w/ a bunch of us other "paper based" folks for a while. I did my renewal application online at end of May and mailed the copy of my driver's license and training certificate a week later (fingerprints not required for renewal). After calling for many weeks I spoke to the LSP last wk. They voice mail (didn't use to have one) says they're running > 120 days behind. The lady I talked to said they were currently processing March and early April. She sent my online application back to me via email. I scanned the needed materials and emailed it back a few days later. Unfortunately, I never received an email confirming their receipt. Guess I need to call them again.

Call the office. Mine was taking months so I decided to call and check on it. The lady pulls my file, asks a few questions, and said "alright, you're approved. I'll send you the card in 5 or so business days."

I wish that I would have called sooner.

Call the office.

I did. I called a couple times a wk but only got a busy signal or no answer. Sent 2 emails but they weren't answered. After 3 wks of calling I got a person. It was Fri PM. She said the system was down so she couldn't provide any info re: my renewal. She said I should call back later. I called back every 30 min and it stayed down; at 4:30 she said the system wouldn't be back up that day and to call back Mon. Thereafter, I continued calling for the next 3 wks and didn't get through again until last week as I reported above. My friend's wife had the same results as you (she called to check on her online renewal that, unlike her husband's, had not been renewed. The lady at the office quickly approved it during the call and took her credit card payment). I'm doing good just to get someone to answer the phone......

Per LSP FAQ.
Q. If I move, how do I change the address on my permit?
A. Go to the Louisiana Concealed Handgun Permit Online Application page at (LINK ) and review the Term of Use Policy and check the "I ACCEPT the above statement" box. Then click on the “Change of Address Request” button. Fill out the Change Address Application and push the Submit button. This should be done within 30 days of the effective date of the address change.

[b]L.R.S 40:1379.3 (C) (1) authorizes a 30 day suspension of your permit for failure to notify the department within 30 days of an address change.

NBD?

Well I did mine online. Took like 8 weeks to process. Exactly one month ago I paid for it...

Still have gotten nothing in the mail. Still no permit.
