It's OK, but it's not made by Colt. Get the M&P 15-22 mentioned.

My FIL has one and it's extremely finicky. I have the S&W 15-22. It's awesome and it's a great platform to teach the kids on as well.

We play a game... shoot the bullseye out at 50 yards, with 6 shots...
I've done it twice.
15/22 is a whole lotta fun.

Just wanted to jump on this bandwagon too...

M&P 15-22 is the GOAT AR-style 22, no questions asked.

Don't waste money on anything else.

ESPECIALLY THAT P.O.S. MOSSBERG, as someone else mentioned. (I had the unfortunate experience of learning that one the hard way )

If you already have an AR why dont you just buy a .22 conversion kit

I did just buy a Golden Boy in 17HMR over the weekend and I've yet to shoot it. So the 15-22 may have some competition

While that is an option, not everyone has an AR. And not all of the kits are made the same. While some are high quality and don't have any issues, the majority that I've heard of have feed issues due to poor magazine fitment and alignment. Plus, the better quality conversions kits will run just as much as a 15-22, so why not just buy that and have a dedicated 22 and a dedicated 223/556? Would suck if u were at the range with your son and had to take turns shooting your AR then converting it to 22 for him to shoot it and vice-versa.

I'd rather spend the extra $200 and have an additional firearm

I have this one ordered. German Sporting Guns Sturmgewehr 44 by American Tactical Imports. A 110 round magazine is available.

Just clean the bolt & breech face every 500 -1000 rounds. Mine has yet to choke on any ammo.

The barrel of a standard AR does not have the proper twist rate for 22lr.

I have a CMMG conversion bolt and it's actually very reliable. But the optics are very low at close range and very inaccurate at long range. I'd love to see the bullet leave the barrel on a high speed camera to see how unstable it is.
