Does anyone have Cleco power and use their LBP? Have you had any issues with it not being exactly what it says it will do?

**Levelized billing is a payment plan based on a 12-month average of your electric utility bills. Your bill is based on the monthly average of your bills for the previous 12 months.

Each month the average is calculated. This average is always rounded to the next whole dollar amount. An adjustment is made to the average bill amount each month to avoid overpayment or underpayment on your account. The plan is an easy way to balance your electric bills. Instead of fluctuating bills, you can expect to pay about the same bill each month.

That sounds like a great way to completely screw over the customer.

Yeah, my power company offers levelizing and I don't use it. I pay for what I use, not what they "estimate " I'm going to use. Summer time bills really aren't that bad and fall and spring bills are half as much.

Trusting utility companies is how people get screwed over.

Entergy offers levelized billing too. I almost fell for it until I realized the average monthly charge does not take into account any surcharges. It would actually cost me more to do the levelized billing

They don't estimate what you are going to use. They take the average of your previous 12 months use. The math is right on the bill so there is no way to screw you. I use Entergy, not Cleco though.

Cleco is the same way. They use the last twelve months to avg your bill.

So my bill would be based on what I used LAST year.

Sounds like an estimate to me.

I use cleco levelize billing and it is an average if your last 12 months. You have to he a customer for at least a year to enter into the program.

I use it. And it's a rolling 12 month scale so it's a damn good indicator and it helps us budget. We love it.

It's an estimate, but they make adjustments based on your actual usage. You will still only pay for exactly what you use in a 12 month period.

I used it in Florida with FPL. Have Cleco now and will probably look into it here after a year.

No way they offer this without it benefiting them and not the customer.
