Anyone on here bass fish in city park? I just moved near there and am looking for tips and pointers and maybe a report on how the fishing has been lately.

This - Go at night, they always have the grass cut up tight to the water and you can see without a light.

We used to kill them at Pinehills in Calhoun, La

Last summer, I went out to City Park right before dusk to make a few casts. A ghetto looking car with a couple of thugs passed by giving me the stink eye. A few minutes later they passed by again, going real slow. I watched them drive a block or so down the road and they made a U turn. I threw my pole in the truck, got in and started it, and took off.

I got one of those bad feelings about that and followed my intuition and GTFO.

Not saying the park is a dangerous place like other parts of NOLA, but watch your back there.

We never had to sneak on. Lots of times the managers of the course would come by and chit chat. As long as you weren't disrupting play they never gave me a hard time.

I have been fishing city park almost every weekend with my dad since February..Spawn just ended so the bass are off of beds on the bank for the most part but we still see them every now and again.. I have my most success now using a lime green and blue spinner bait but my dad has been doing well with a top water chug..

City park is a blast to fish IMO, I grew up fishing out of lake hermitage and never bass fished much, but my dad took me out there once with him and I was hooked (pun intended)... There are a lot of places to fish out there, just be careful for snakes now that it's getting hot

ETA: does everyone else here catch and release or do some of y'all take them out of the water? We release everything..

And don't waste your time trying to catch the 5 pounder that's always cruising between morning call and the bridges, I've seen PLENTY people including myself spend hours trying to get her attention but she just won't take the bait

Hangover you have a camp out at lake hermitage?

We had the camp at the back of the lake near smith bayou, we used to catch the shite out of bass in the pumping station canal along with redfish.

Yep... We are across from clays log cabins

I've heard of people catching bass in the middle of hermitage when the water's right never done I myself though... I might have to try where you said, thanks! I've fished that point before but never down the actual canal and never for bass

My son caught a bass at Waddill Wildlife Refuge this morning. If you are new to the area, it has two stocked ponds (Bass & Catfish) and restrooms.
