Anyone here have any experience with one of their rifles. Starting to get the itch for a long range precision in the .30. Looking at maybe .300 win mag. in their Traverse model.

Christensen makes a really good gun. Really good.

While the .300win mag is a great caliber if you’re buying for long range precision, the .300prc would serve you better, imho.

Bought the Mesa back in January chambered in 6.5. Added a Nightforce SHV for glass and with a little tinkering with my reloads it will shoot one ragged hole at 100 yards. Shooting a rather consistent .300” and less groups at 200 yards.. Gun shoots better than I am. Last time out I busted 5 beer bottles in a row at 400 yards. Very pleased with the rifle and comes with a very nice adjustable trigger as well.

Great choice and is drilled and tapped for model 700 rings and bases. Go with Talley!

Just did a build, with a 6.5 PRC in their MPR desert color. Put Tract 4.5-30x56 on it with Atlas bipod and a MPT handle. It’s shot well under MOA. Still waiting on my Silecerco can, but it’s a beast. So light with all the carbon fiber forend and barrel. Very happy, going to stretch it out to 1000yrds this week

Have a traverse 30 nosler...much better gun than I am a shooter. Reloads will do sub-1/2 MOA, and I haven't even started testing seating depths yet. Love the ergonomics. Dad has a Mesa 6.5, and a ridgeline 28Nos, he loves them. These are the guns that made him stop buying savages and getting them accurized. Great, great guns for the money...now I want aother one, in 26Nos.

Thanks for the reviews

Tell me more about the .300 prc and the .30 nozzler I am familiar with Military Sniper rifle and have fired the M2010 that’s why I was thinking.300 win mag. And no I am not a B4 just familiar with all things infantry.

I am wanting something in .30 cal with arse to it. Thinking about taking a moose hunting trip when I retire and enjoy long range shooting.

.300 PRC (precision rifle cartridge) was designed to get maximum case capacity and still have the ability to seat a long high BC bullet (212 up to 225gr). It’s based off the .375 Ruger which is belt less.
It was designed specifically for long range shooting.

Shooting times

This is a bit of a fluff piece but has some technical info on the .300prc vs other .30 caliber magnums.

Thank that’s the kind of information I was looking for.
I had ruled out the .338 lapua, at my age I have no interest in turning my body into a recoil mechanism.

the 30 Nos is a reloaders hunting round. Only Nosler is making ammo for it right now in accubond, ABLR, and match bullets - and those are not widely found in stores. Even Walmart and St. Gabriel Hardware has a few boxes of 300WM behind the counter. Nosler claims its faster than a 300WM or Wby (not by much). When you look into the test data, they pick the loads and bullet selections head-to-head so they can make those claims. The 30 Nos is a belt-less 404 Jeffrey case blown-out with a steep shoulder. It headspaces off the shoulder instead of a belt - this is supposed to be more accurate.

The reason why I have a 30 Nos is b/c I was gonna get a ridgeline in 300WM, then Christensen introduced the traverse at SHOT show before I made the purchase. So, I decided to wait until a 300WM Traverse came out, spend axtra $300 for the monte carlo stock and side-baffle brake - but there was a waiting list into the summer for those. My money was burning a hole in my pocket and I read up on the 30 Nos and thought "why not?". Then I realized that I had to pay $70-$80/box for only one kind of bullet from Nosler. I was gonna reload for it anyway. All said & done, I'm very happy with how it all turned out (my wallet ain't so much). The accuracy of fine-tuned handloads in that rifle is impressive. Christensens are free-bored so that VLD bullets can touch the lands for accuracy. I dont think Weatherbys or the Howa Vanguards are. Cannot speak for Winchester or Rem 700s.

I know nothing about the PRC other than it was designed to be a LR match/target round. Randy Selby has some strong feelings on it re: hunting. You could always reload a berger hunting bullet in it for LR hunting, but how good a shot are you to kill ethically past 300yds?

For moose, it seems like the 338 or 33 Nosler would do better with a 225-250 gr bullet. I guess you could load a 30Nos or 300WM heavy for caliber as well. I load 200gr Bergers in mine for elk, muleys, and LR turnrow shots in Tensas. Never hunted moose, so there's that...

Good luck, it's fun ain't it?!?!

On top of the .30 Nosler is the .300 Norma.

It’s the king for reloading.

I’ve been shopping for the same type of gun, but I’m currently leaning towards Bergara. Any advice between the two?

I've got a Bergara Highlander in 280AI that has turned into my favorite deer rifle I've ever owned. Its my 6th Bergara and I've been tickled with all of them. Their Premier series rifles are on another level than the B14's which they should be with the price difference. All of mine have been sub moa with the HMR and the Highlander being under .5 moa. The Highlander of mine has shot multiple .25 Moa groups with multiple people. Admittedly it should for the cost of it. Those were all with semi-custom factory loads from Copper Creek

I looked hard at Christensen as I really loved the looks of their rifles but I kept coming across the same two types of reviews. They either shot great and the person loved them or they shot horrible and the owner was shite out of luck due to Christensens well known lack of customer service. My best friend has 2. His 6.5PRC shoots lights out. His 300PRC does not and CA has been absolutely no help other than giving excuses. He's currently on the fence about selling it for a Highlander like mine or using it as trade bait for something else.

I was looking hard at a Christensen in .300win but ended up with a x-bolt hells canyon long range. Just another option for you to look at.

Look at the Bergara Premier series. I’m contemplating buying a Mountain 2.0 in 300 Win Mag.

The higher end Browning Hell’s Canyon is apparently a shooter. I’ve heard it’s comparable to very high end Gunwerks and the like from an accuracy perspective.

I have one with a Leupold VX5HD and it is a tack driver. I mainly bought it since the barrel came threaded and I want to be able to use my Thunder Chicken on it.
