Never used one. Seems like Academy has 15 versions.
How long?
Do I need a reel or just that fly reel looking thing?
Brand?

I have several for different uses. I like the B&M ones that look like a bass rod as they fit in the rod holders on the dock, not that there is any water under it now but... and you can find a reel you like. I prefer the small ultra light spinning reels. i have 10, 12 and 14 well that is how long they are when i buy them before my girls break the tips. are you wanting them for trolling or vertical jigging?

Toledo tackle, I think. Seems like I got them at a smaller local place.

I have a couple of ultralights in different lengths with ultralight spinning reels, but my favorite sacalait/bream pole is a beat up 6 foot pflueger my dad bought me for saltwater when I was younger with a zebco 11 on it.
I've been considering getting something 7 or 8 foot and sticking an ultralight spinning reel on it, but there's only been a handful of times I've been fishing it would have been a big help.
ETA:
Ah I've never really done this.

Oh, I have some nice spinning rigs-that's what I've been using. From time to time, a true jigging pole would help. Especially fishing brush/wood.

Only time a jigging pole would have helped me was a couple of times around certain docks in the winter and raking holes in the grass in Cataouatche.

Hmmm, the primo jigging pole in La is the "Salters Jigging pole" available near Erwinville, La, and at finer tackle stores near BR. "Slaters" seems really close. Better call a patent lawyer. ;-)

Buy the best: JB Salters Jiggin' Pole. The guy from Erwinville makes them. His shop is off of 190, but all the LA Express' in the area have them.
