had these birds 2 weeks. 4 hens, one rooster. And now on bottom part of my roosters back he has a bald spot about the size of a nickel. Just started 3-4 days ago. I got some type of peck no more solution to put on it this weekend, but wondering what has caused the hens to start pecking at him.

are you sure the hens are pecking him? Mites will cause this too.

how can i stop mites?
Im not sure the hens caused the damage...... but i have seen a couple hens pecking the dry spot that is there now.

Wish I could be of more help, but what cock doesn't like getting a little head from his lady friends?

Tractor supply here had mite treatment drops.
Odds are it isn't the hens.

I have no idea here as I've never had chickens, but are the mites visible? Could the hens be pecking him because they are eating the mites?

really? That makes me feel better. I feel like i can treat the mites better than hens pecking him. Ive witnessed them pecking the spot at the vent of his feathers. And assumed they caused it

Because they like the cock? Maybe they are mating ...

lol.. no clue. But i dont want my rooster to be goin bald. I got him strictly to look at now he has a bald spot. None of the hens seem to be balding (other than some lower back damage from rooster humping them) Just odd at base of tailfeathers of rooster only. no blood or nothing, just a bald dry spot. And i notice hens walk by and will peck it

Like above poster said, the hens could be pecking mites.
Do the hens seem aggressive towards him? How much you get is said rooster?

Those chickens are getting a pecker put in them every day by the rooster. They are just returning the favor with their peckers.

This happens with chickens occasionally, they can be drawn to a sore or a red spot on another chicken and start pecking it. It can snowball as they make it worse to the point it kills them. It's what led the invention of chicken glasses.
I would separate the rooster from the others until the bald spot heals.

crazy as it sounds i ordered a chicken saddle to go over the rooster. hopefully gives him time to heal and wont be able to get pecked
