Took class on 7/9/2016. Submitted online and followed emailed instructions. Did fingerprints at LSP HQ and permit was in my mailbox on 7/21/2016. 9 business days.

Bump for update.

Received a call from Lt. Rodney on Tuesday (7/26). He explained its basically a budget issue because they don't have approval for overtime to process applications. He confirmed they were still working on January apps. He thanked me for reaching out to my legislatures and pushing the issue with them and agreed this should not take so long. He said we all need to push our legislatures on this issue.

7/29 Received my email to submit payment.

112 days from application to email for payment. Pleasantly surprised.

I can tell you this....it appeared to me that they have an assload of people working in that division when I went to get my fingerprints done (granted fingerprints is probably different from CCP processing but still) so I'm a little jaded to this budget argument. The amount of people I saw in there should be able to rip through applications especially if they are straight forward.

Damn I got my payment email the day after I did my fingerprints....still haven't gotten the APPROVED yet but it's only been a week since I paid so I assume it will take longer.

LA sure enjoys encroaching on my rights to bear arms.

I don't know what else we're supposed to do. We (the people) amended the constitution to remove the right of the legislature to regulate this, and the LA Supreme Court says, "Nope. That constitutional change means nothing."

So, the next step in the process is lining folks up against the wall - and I don't think we're there yet.

Not the same group of people. Very few are working on actually processing applications. And anytime something comes up, IE baton rouge shooting or extra security, they are pulled from processing apps and sent to higher priority issues.

Unfortunatley for me I mailed in my finger print cards. But my email said application was approved. So I made my payment and should receive my card next week.

All things considered, 112 days is actually quicker then I expected considering all the horror stories I have heard.

Again I'm still not buying budget issues.

First off...Johnny Boy was endorsed by the LSP pretty early in his campaign. Do you think he would cut their budget? I doubt it.

Move the people I saw to working on apps. The fingerprinting process is very very very inefficient....it could be improved to be faster with fewer people.

So they send the people that process apps to investigate crime scenes when people get shot? That seems strange.

ETA Granted what you say is very probably true....but that doesn't make it right or OK IMO

Oh yea seems pretty good for mailed cards.....The mail I got when I paid said my app was ACCEPTED....who knows. I'm not expecting to even start looking for it for a month or so anyway.

Not necessarily do any investigating but just to provide more security and a larger presence when needed. This guy spent about 15 minutes on the phone with me so I have no reason to doubt anything he said. He said they have a meeting scheduled with Col. Edminston to discuss this. It sounded like the Colonel is very disconnected to the daily issues the State Police deal with.
