So I have about 60lbs of scrap lead that I'm melting down and casting ~5ish lb fishing weights with.

My fist set was made using 6oz tomato paste cans from Walmart, but it would be nice to make the weights a little less chode-ish.

I was thinking that a Michelob ultra can would be the perfect shape, but I have some concerns pouring 400deg lead into a thin aluminum beer can. I know aluminum doesn't melt til its around 1200degF, but I still am a little sketched out due to how thin the can walls are. Will I have any issues?

Fill in a long, narrow lead pipe so it will fit in your rod holders.

Find something that fits in the rod holder.

Yes a beer can will hold the hold lead.

im worried about beer cans in general. The cans i use now are pretty thick, Beer cans are wayyy more thin.

I know a melting point is a melting point, but I just picture the side of a can blowing out and liquefied lead poring everywhere

6-8oz volume of lead is the sweet spot weight wise though. 6oz can gets you ~4.5lbs and 8oz is like 6lbs

These have been sitting outside for over 2 years im told. Not intentionally so that they could be cast, just because they were junked

They said they just busted a hole in the side to drain them, then flushed with a ton of water. I have no idea really though. They were given to me as the lead chunks, not as a battery. The lead core itself had been removed a year or so ago and had been sitting outside, so I felt pretty comfortable handling it.

Google may be able to help with that part.

How about an inverted beer bottle? Cut the bottom off with a diamond blade. It would be pretty aerodynamic too going down. "Aerodynamic" probably the wrong word.

Hydronamic?

I definitely feel like the heat shock would crack a bottle though
