MFT and onstar serve 2 completely different purposes I thought

I don't own a GM but my parents do, but not sure what onstar has to do with anything

My dad's got a 3/4 ton Laramie. The inside is holding up very well unlike his past vehicles, (dodges). Still don't care for the ride compared to a Duramax or an F-250.

I've had a base F150 for 10 years, 110k miles, the CD player is messed up and that's it. i would buy another base model ford in a heart beat.

That may be true, but only because OnStar doesn't really do shite.

It's the closest thing to sync in a GM. If you buy it, you can use it in a similar way as sync, I think. If you don't you have no nav, and only way to listen to external music is through aux. The hardware cannot even be jacked.

Onstar has nothing to do with Nav I don't think, unless you are using the onstar turn by turn service which is different

I think the new GMs have USB and Bluetooth music capabilities as well, but I will agree that they were way behind the curve until recently

It's still the only nav available in the vehicle unless you buy another product. No way to sync your phone.

But that's just the head unit, right?

Going from my GM to my wife's Ford is like jumping forward in time 20 years.

I'm comparing the GMs touchscreen navigation, which has really nothing to do with onstar, to the fords touchscreen navigation

If you are going to keep the truck long term then the f-150.. The ford last.... I do agree the Chevy rides better... On my 3rd ford... Had 285,000 plus miles on the 1st two and 110,000 on my current f-150.. No problems

You put a total of 685,000 miles on three different vehicles with no major failures?

That's not normal.
