Sorry not Outdoor so much, however, I am thinking about running 50 head of cattle on my 1400 acre farm over the winter. I plan to bale peanut straw to fortify the graze. Anyway, what is a registered brangus cow bringing these days?

Depends, open, bred, with calf, what you looking for? Cattle prices are through the roof, have been and will be for awhile. You looking at doing a cow calf operation?

Not really a good time to buy when prices are at an all time high.

This

I plan on getting in but not for at least another 2 years. Forecast have the market leveling out in about 2-3.

bred 2 y/o F1 heifers are anywhere from $1500-$2500 each depending who you know. Priced some in Mississippi 2 months ago and they were outrageous.

1500 for some decent bred heifers is a steal right now.

LINK

you can find some prices on here for comparison.

Are you wanting to just hold them through the winter then sale them? Are you talking about buying heifers, steers or cows?

Registered cow good teeth and open looking at 1500.
Heifer open 1200
Same cow heavy bred 2000 and up
Heifer heavy bred 1800 and up
Went to 3 sales this week and that was the average. Like others have said kinda bad time to buy in but if you do don't be stingy with the peanut straw. If you can put any weight on them you may come out on the good end cause demand is high with our recent Japan contracts and supply is low.

Yea prices are unbelievable right now.

Contract heifers are the way to go right now for somebody without an established herd IMO
