Seriously though nutria is some fine eating.

They taste like rabbit that's been soaked in marsh mud for weeks.

I know that the nutria cause a metric shite ton of damage, but couldn't you put a few of those bastards on the lakes that are choked up with giant salvinia and take care of that problem?

A lot of it has to do with the fact that there's not as much marsh left to damage

What do I need in order to hunt and sell Nutria? I can literally shoot a dozen every night I take the boat out.

My understanding is get the license, kill nutria, cut off tail, profit.

My question is, where do they keep these 3.5 million tails?

Tails have to be properly cared for or they can and will reject them.

The only ones that are rejected are either too short (have to be 7" long) or seriously rotten. Frozen, then thawed the day before turning them in is preferred. Also, don't try to turn in possum or muskrat tails (happens often).

There are designated drop-off places where the tails are counted and collected. You'll get a receipt of sorts, then your check will come in the mail a couple weeks later.

Berwick landing on Tuesdays, Houma civic center parking lot on Wednesdays, Luling on Thursdays, Slidell and Abbeville pickups alternate.

All the info you need to sign up is on the link I posted earlier.

Not rotten is what I meant. I had a friend try to turn in some road kill once.
