My cousin gave me a second hand gun safe. I need to bolt it into my garage floor, which is cement slab. What tools, and type of bolts do I need? What is the general process?

I have a humidity regulator, so this is not a thread about that.

TIA

Hammer drill, 1/2" bit, 1/2" sleeve anchors like these..

Consider shimming it a little off the floor so air can circulate under the bottom plate.

Drill holes into the congrete with a hammer drill. Use congrete anchors or inserts for a 1/2" bolt.

Something like this:

I bolted my air compressor to the slab in my shop. I bought a concrete bit that was shite so I took a piece of 1/2 re-bar ground the tip like a blunt tip arrow head. I took a 1 lb maul and hit it and turned hit it and turned then drilled until I got deep enough to set my anchors in the concrete. You will have to bust through the rocks in the concrete they wouldn't drill for me.

I believe I bought 3/8" anchors. Buy top quality anchors the ones I bought were cheap and bent easy but they worked.

Edit: I don't own a hammer drill........

You could have rented one for a day that would have saved you lots of time and your back.

I need to do this too. Think I will buy a hammer drill from Harbor Freight. They normally have coupons for them.

Just buy one at lowes. Use it. Clean it. Return it if you can't find one for rent. I have a corded hitachi with a hammer setting and one of my dewalt 20v has a rotary hammer setting. Anything over 1/4" I use the corded drill. You can get the Hitachi for around $80 I believe.

Wasn't near as hard as you think. Just had to bust through a few rocks. I was in a hurry to get it done.

When you have worked offshore for 23 years you figure out ways to get shite done when you don't have the proper tools.

Your man card is set for life, SIR!

Redheads anchors are the norm in industry... to the OP. (I recomend a drill, instead of offshore's awesome submission!)

EOT: (1 pound maul? That makes it even more awesomer!)

it wouldn't hurt to add an epoxy/bonding agent to the hole before inserting the sleeve
