I am in market for a bass boat. I found a couple that fit what i am looking for. The issue is one is in Georgia and one is in Florida. Anyone have experience in shipping a boat? Cost? Company? Is this even a good option to consider?? TIA

Would seem like it is easier to drive to Georgia or Florida to pick up? That way you could check out the boat, assuming you are buying used? If it is a new boat, you should be able to find a local dealer and they would cover shipping cost.

Shipping fees would be expensive. I would go pick it up.

Big question is it new or used? Secondly, do you even plan to see the boat in person before purchase?
So many things could go wrong pending what your answer to those questions are.

Contact a local car dealer or dekear auction house. They ship and receive all kinds of vehicles, including different boats.
You basically contact shipper and they tell you where to bring it and when it would get shipped. Could take a couple of weeks.
That's the trick, boats are more plentiful and cheaper in Fla, but you have to figure costs of getting it home.
I'd probably go myself so I could inspect it and bring it back myself. I know it sucks, but just to be sure.

I shipped a motorcycle using Uship from South Florida to Louisiana. The guy I used had a load going down to South Florida and was going to be empty coming back. I think I paid around $300?

Now, of course a motorcycle fit in his large cargo trailer. I guess a boat would require some sort of flat bed.

I paid $1150 to have mine shipped from the keys to New Orleans. That included wrapping the boat and insurance.

Almost did the same to ship mine from Orlando to New Orleans. I just drove down there to get it instead. Left at about noon from here. Got drunk at Universal and crashed in a crappy hotel in Orlando . Woke up at 7, picked up boat, drove home.

It was a good time. Would do it again.

It's 1400 miles, give or take. So that like 95 gallons of fuel @ $2.xx/gallon. Call it $200 in fuel, another hundo for the bed, and probably that much in food and booze. So for less than $500 you can leisurely drive down to south florida and have enough left over to get ripshit wasted while you're there.

The catch is it takes all weekend and you're paying at least $400 no matter what. So the actual cost of shipping is only $800.

frick. I really shouldn't have had that joint with breakfast.
