Oxford, MS. Wildrose kennels, it’s worth the drive.

Either there or Duckhill Kennels a little further north. Outside of Memphis.
Robert Milner started Wildrose and was the 1st to bring English labs to the US. He started Duckhill 15 yrs or so ago.

I am partial to black labs my self but a yellow is easier to hide. Some yellow labs are completely concealed in a field where nothing in is more noticeable in nature than a solid mass of black. There is a reason most solid black predators are mostly nocturnal.

british labs =/= english labs

Bracken Fen Kennels in Saucier, MS. Tom Hamilton is the breeder/trainer. He was stationed in England while in the Air Force and worked with some of the best kennels over there and then brought a couple dogs with him when he retired. We've had 4 labs from him and all have been exceptional hunting and family dogs

Milner has British, not english.
My lab is not from duckhill but a man that worked under Milner at Wildrose before he sold it.
My lab is from some of the original lines from Wildrose.

I was speck hunting in Stuttgart in December and one guy shot at a single that was just out of range. The black lab my buddy owns bolted on the shot and ran after that speck as it flew further away.
When he finally got the dog headed back, we saw two other specks flying towards our blind. Dog's owner said, "get ready those two specks are gonna follow the dog right to us" and that's what they did. Kept getting lower as the dog got closer to the blind. Killed em without having to call.
First time I'd ever seen it, but apparently my buddy has seen this happen before.

I wear all black for camo when I’m duck hunting the swamp.
It’s always worked for me.
Also I’ve never seen a duck flare at my black lab.

If you are interested in a grown already trained dog, I have a black female that’s already been professionally trained. She’s 4 and is out of an absolutely stacked pedigree, her dad is “franchise performance enhancing drugs juice”. She also has several SRS dogs and dogs in the retriever hall of fame in her pedigree including “Lean Mack” she’s crate trained. I have full AKC registration. She was trained by Daniel Goldsby.
I moved to a new house and also lost my duck lease so now I just really use my male lab to blood trail deer.
I have around $7,500 invested in her, but I’d sell her for a lot less. You’ll be hard pressed finding a lab with a better pedigree than hers.
Totally understand if you’re looking for a puppy or just a lab for a pet, not a hunt test or hunting dog.

That’s a show dog pic, dogs are dogs on either side of the pond. “British” is a marketing technique designed to draw a certain clientele. IMO, the “B” dogs are mostly over priced with pedigrees nobody can truly qualify unlike your typical akc breeding. After the last two in the pedigree there’s not much left, ie: lean Mac 6 breedings prior to current litter has zero bering.
Hunt test and FT performance is a good indicator of future but it’s still a crap shoot.
Repeat breeding are the best indicators of future performance but usually the price increases and the pool of buyers is whittled down to performance buyers with their own pedigrees.
Not even going down the method rabbit hole.

I know very little about labs but I thought the British were a little longer hair and stockier.
I like the look better than the short hair long legs. Also that is what I have now and we love her.

We found a F1 Labradoodle running around a park. It's 50% lab 50% poodle. Looks like a shaggy lab.
It's a GREAT dog!!!! So easy to train, and so happy and nice with the kids.
