Ok, so definitely in the hundreds of thousands...perhaps a million.
What are these? I was kayaking and taking pictures around the Lighthouse yesterday evevning, and the birds were flocking west to east, continuously for hours, swooping down on the water, flying relatively low to the shore. They seemed to be playing more than anything, but they were definitely "migrating" it seemed to me.
Any bird experts on here? They were fun to watch to say the least. My co-worker is now saying Purple Martins...

I would have put this shite on the ot if I wanted these bitchy replies, so get fricked.
This is the board where posters that hunt, fish and observe nature reside, i guarantee someone knows what they are, where they've been, and where they're going.

You ask us to identify birds with no picture. Then you tell us to get fricked. You are a real winner

Description of said millions?
Could be swallows.

Based on your lack of pictures, I'm going to say these were Albatrosses.

Dude, seriously??? Telling one to two smartasses to get fricked isn't telling "us". I came here for legitimate answers and convos. Please don't cry, I can't handle it.

Did you just start a bird ID thread with no pics, then complain because we aren't mind readers?

I was as descriptive as possible. They are too small to show up on a camera phone.

Those are Nopixels, they migrating up to Canada from Australia.

Sorry, but I don't know how you want a real response. You did not use a SINGLE descriptive word to describe them. Not color, size, beak, feet shape, anything. About the only thing we have to go by is they are flying from the West.

Based on the expert description, I'm pretty sure those were humming birds.

I would say their wing span was no more than 4-6", the tips of their wings curved/hooked back towards their tails. Not a large bird....seemed to be flying in a swooping pattern down towards the water, back up, back down again. They were non-stop. For hours they flew past me...

Were they flamingos? Never mind, too small

Yes, that's how they flew, pretty sure you nailed it. Thanks for the link.
They weren't as "bunched" up, but they may have been heading to roost by the bridge...they were peaceful to watch and added to the paddle.
