can anyone recommend a bird dog trainer not specifically for labs but for pointer/gsp/spaniels in the gulf coast region? narrowing options down between these 3 and thinking/planning ahead. TIA

If you look in the mirror you will see the person that should train your dog

AJ Chicola in Lecompte, LA...best bird dog trainer I have ever met and a damn nice guy, too...
look him up...I think there was a good article about him in the alexandria newspaper a week or so ago...
he can probably point you towards good breeds and breeders of whatever you chose, too...

What breed of dog are you getting/have and what game will he/she be used for primarily?

Contact Tyler Silcox. The man lives and breathes bird hunting and the GSP breed. I picked up a female from him 4 months ago and he has the best dogs I've ever had the pleasure to hunt over. Maybe not gulf coast(but not far off). You will thank me later. Might have a male GSP male for sale now that points, backs, retrieves to hand, and whoa broke. I've been around bird hunting for 40 years and he's hands down the best I've seen.

Steve Riggins at Bear Creak on the Bayou.

His type of training isn't good for a pointer IMO.
