Stopped off at a pawn shop while my wife had a Chiropractor appt, and they had this sitting there.

It's a Ruger SR9. I am guessing some stupid kid owned it. I am also assuming hispanic because of the allusion to MS13, and because this area is 45% illegal worker.

What would it take to fix it? Price and effort-wise.

Regardless of what it would be, I'm not going to offer more than $230. They are asking $299, but they made the mistake of telling me they have had trouble selling it. Also, they told me that they were disappointed when the one guy who did buy it traded it back in to pay for his daughter's bike.

I just want to make sure it won't take an arm and a leg to get it fixed.

Carbine Question:

I am also looking at a few different carbines. The question is what caliber should I purchase? My instinct is to go with 9mm over .40 because it's velocity to size seems like it would carry better from a "rifle" platform. Am I way off on this?

Thanks Guys.

When you hold it sideways, nobody will notice.

I'd offer $100 with plans to sand that shite off myself, depending on how deep the etching is.

Is it just the pic, barrel looks to be pointing up a touch.

Have a couple of revolvers, never owned or shot a semi-auto.

How much would these different options run me?

Also, any advice on the Carbine question? That same place has a Hi-Point 9mm Carbine with a foregrip for $279.99. Which, of course I would offer less.

I had been looking at the Beretta CX4, or the Kel-Tec Sub2000, but I like the value on the Hi-Point. It is well reviewed, and I like my .380 a lot.

That Ruger is 10000x better than a POS hi-pernt.

Don't get the hi-pernt

For the record, I was gonna get both. It isn't an either/or deal.

Hi-Pernts are not as bad as their reputation. As I said, I love mine. It's reliable, though I do have to clean it more than most. It's shockingly accurate too.

Their carbines have always been better rated than their hand guns too.

My main question is regarding .40 vs 9mm in a carbine. Which one performs better from that type of platform. I am wanting to buy a carbine in the same caliber as the next handgun I purchase. So I can buy bulk of one ammunition type.

You probably have a lot of room to negotiate considering it's most likely a murder weapon.

Do I need to start a new thread?

Yes, some of you answered what I can do to fix it. However, no one proffered an idea on how much that would cost.

Secondly, no one has answered my question on carbine calibers.

I would not buy that pistol to hire someone to fix it, you'd be better off buying new. I would never spend money on a high point of Kel tec.

Just saw a price to ceracoat the slide only stripped is around $50-60

The .40 will definitely do better than a 9mm in a carbine. It's a hotter round.

That is easily doable.

If they would go as low as $100. Out the door would be under $200 for a SR9.

That's a pretty good deal....
