Doubtful.

If you could, the chances are you could also out grill me on a weber kettle. A good griller can grill on anything. I just prefer charcoal.

I agree - and I am a good griller.

I'm just messin with you dude. I'm usually cooking steaks and sausage, so the quickness of gas is enough for me. Charcoal is a must for burgers for sure though. I do enjoy a properly prepared coal base because a lot of people frick it up.

I've never used a ceramic so I can't comment on them

Not a "must" for me, but, as a gas guy I give props to charcoal for doing burgers better - I still think it's slight, but more noticeable improvement in taste over gas.

For the money probably one the old country grills with offset smoker from academy.

If you have some cash go with a kamado (egg type) grill and get a nice custom table or built in for it.

If AlxTgr sees that...
Yeah people buying an egg when they have a perfectly fine oven in their house.

You can pretty much spot someone that doesn't understand the cooking process by their dismissal of gas grills.

Agreed.

Though lately I have been experimenting with grilling with chunk woods instead of charcoal. I have to say that I can get more subtle smoke flavor out of the chunks. I mixed apple and peach on redfish(cut on the halfshell of course) last night and was quite impressed with the subtle sweetness that came through in the fish. I am hooked now. Loaded up on different chunks and will be experimenting for the game tomorrow.

Yes, by a friend of mine. That's the smallest one he has made. The first one was giant.

I haven't seen anyone mention Holland Grills. I have had one for 7+ years and have never had the first problem with it. I keep it covered on the back porch and just brush the grill before each use. It does not flare up like most gas grills and it uses a drip pan to allow the juices of the meat to smoke and flavor the meat. You can get one for around $500-$600.

I have likely cooked/smoked/grilled more than most of you, and I have all three. Smoker, charcoal grill, and gas grill. Each has its own uses that it is best at. I am looking into these new-fangled ceramic deals and I am considering getting one of those as well.
