By deep water nets I mean those triangle nets, but with longer wire

Also you are limited to only 100 lbs per party per day. And yes, they do check.

SHERBURNE

I dont have a 4-wheeler and have crawfished Sherburne before. We just had a red wagon we pulled our gear on. It wasn't hard at all unless something changed since last year. Just fyi for anyone thinking about going that doesn't have a 4-wheeler.

Use beef melt. Last year was slower than the one before. If you're not catching good size crawfish, move around and find them.

I find that 2 dozen nets is about perfect if y'all are doing them one by one. By the time you get to the end and dump the last one it's about time to go back to the first and start over again. Usually put half out at one depth and half out at another and see if either one is producing better.

Also not sure what your plans are, but If you're in the water walking to them and emptying the nets a #3 tub is money. Floats and won't flip easily. Also get a pretty long stick with a screw or something through the end to pick them up with from a good distance. We have an extendable fiberglass pole that used to have a saw and pair of shears on the end for pruning trees and put a bolt through the end of it.

ETA and beef melt FTW.

We go the Sherburne pretty regularly. I'd be more than happy to help you out the first time you go if you would like.

did this once with two kids in tow that I had to load up in the wagon on the way back.
1.2 miles to the good ponds.
Never again.

I would suggest bringing bikes to ride back there if you do not have motorized transportation.
Just load up a wagon, hook it up to your bike seat.

I've seen people back there on riding mowers
