best bass lure for pond fishing

I always found that smaller baits worked well on ponds. Baits like small spinner baits and small jerkbaits seemed to work well

Beetle spin, texas rig worm, senkos, zara puppy spook (most fun), and weightless flukes.

All will catch pond bass and won't break the bank. Really depends on time of year and how big the fish are. Overpopulated little shits, throw beetle spins and the spook, but decent sized fish you're gonna lean more to the texas rig and senkos.

Number one factor I forgot is vegetation. Shallow ponds will have two feet of moss on the bottom that make a texas rig useless. Here I would stay with flukes or the spook, are rig up a drop shot if you want to get fancy.

When you think ponds, think terrestrials. That's what makes up a significant portion of the largemouth diet.

Frogs, hoppers, snakes, mice, and birds.

Then you also have much smaller shad populations typically so they are feeding on fathead minnows, sunfish, and crawfish.



then for ease of fishing you have to work around thick vegetation which often comes all the way to the surface.


I like weedless, shallow running baits in general for ponds.
