What is the best bang for the buck on a barrel and suppressor for a 10/22?

Also, what all do I need to do about applying to get a suppressor in Louisiana, and is it legal to squirrel/varmint hunt with one outside of deer season?

is your barrel threaded?
you'll need to fill out a form 4, pay 200 tax and wait a few months after you buy it

It will live at your FFL while you wait
if you use precision in BR you can shoot with it at their range while you wait for the stamp

4.5" is the magic barrel length to keep all 22 ammo subsonic. go with that. I'm gonna F1 my 10/22 takedown and throw a 4.5" barrel on it with a silencerco sparrow

Barrel is not threaded - looking to get a threaded bull barrel. Would I need to get a new stock to fit a bull barrel?

I'm assuming you are talking about aftermarket barrels. I have a KIDD barrel on one of my 10/22's and it is extremely accurate. DownSouthDave just started the paperwork on a Gemtech GR-22. Its a pretty nice rimfire suppressor and its on the lower end of the price range.

If you're in BR, go to Jims. They probably have 20 different rimfire suppressors.

I went with a Green Mountain barrel and Hogue stock on mine.

Next one will have an Integral SD barrel.

If you are going to do "up close" work with it I would recommend a pillow. Quiets the sound and guards against splatter.

I have a spectre II suppressor for mine, wish I would of gotten the sparrow for the ease of cleaning and size, but I got a great deal on the spectre. Go with the sparrow.

I have heard great things about green mountain barrels, I just have a cheap TacSol barrel that shoots fine for my needs.

I would look at Thompson Machine. The operative TD is pretty bad arse. The Liberty Pinnacle 2 is another option.

I don't have a 10/22 but I do have a green mountain barrel on my Uzi. It's better than the factory barrel

speaking of 22 suppressors what ammo are y'all using for hunting? I see that eley subsonic gets good reviews but it's expensive (really expensive)... ie not for plinking

See my above post. Get a 4.5" barrel and don't worry about subsonic

Buy a few rubber baby bottle nipples. Place the nipple on the end of the barrel, you'll get give or take three shots without a sound. Cost effective over the short term.

That requires another 200 bucks plus the barrel. I'll already have more that I paid for the rifle in the can, the stamp and the transfer fee
