I've seen arrow charts, but want opinions on best arrows to shoot. I'm using 100 grain Rage mech broad head, 27 in draw, 60lb pull. Give me your opinions, experiences, recommendations.

Been using Gold Tip XT Hunters in 55/75 for a long time. really straight and durable. I have the same draw length and shooting about 65lbs.

Easton full metal jackets. I shoot the same draw length and close to same poundage as your setup and have had great luck with them. Good kinetic energy for shorter arrows due to the heavier GPI, tough as nails too. Only downside is they are fairly expensive.

I shoot Gold Tip Hunter XT's as well. Just bought me a dozen new 300 shafts for this year.

With your draw and poundage, it looks like you would need the 400 spines.

There is no one correct answer, your bow and someone who knows how to tune it will tell you. I was ready to sell my bow last year because it couldn't group maxima reds at $80/half dozen for shite. Had it tuned by someone who knew what they were doing and my bow just "preferred" a spine that wasn't really what the charts called for. As for the different brands of arrows, I doubt you're gonna be able to tell the difference unless you're a serious target or 3D guy.

Brand doesn't really matter. Tuning is what is important. For carbon arrows, I use carbon express or gold tips with no issues.

I shoot the same everything you just called out. Maxima Reds 250 spine. I will group with the best of them at 20-60 yards

I shoot the same setup in Matthews creed and use the PSE radial X weave pro 300 and I love them. Been using them for 5+ years with great success

I'm not trying to nitpick, but I don't want the OP confused. Carbon Express Maxima arrows aren't numbered by their spine, i.e. A Maxima 250 is a .400 spine (.404 to be exact). You are correct that an arrow in the .400 range should tune well with his setup

I've had good luck with Black Eagle arrows. They are premium quality at a moderate price. I have used Carnivores the last two seasons and I built Rampages for this season. I went with Rampages because I wanted to change to small diameter arrows and they come with 56gr half out inserts. This allows me to shoot 100gr broadheads while keeping a high FOC and the half outs taper to fit flush with standard diameter broadheads.

I shoot the gold tip hunter xt as well and I like them. They work with my bow so I'll keep shooting them. I shoot a pse with a 27" draw and 70#'s. The arrows are the 400 series. Should work well with your setup. I would throw those rages away and get some grim reapers though

With a 60lb pull and 27 inch draw I would go as light as possible on the arrow to give yourself more room for error when judging distance (flatter shooting). If you get over 400 grains you're going to really see a big drop at 30 and 40 yards compared to say a 360 gr. arrow. That said I would look for one 7.2-8 grains per inch. I'm only familiar with Easton so your options would be Da Torch (expensive) 7.2gpi, Bloodline (what I shoot) 7.7gpi or Flatlines 7.4gpi. 400 spine. FYI I only shoot Easton because they're all I've ever shot, any quality manufacturer would be fine. The weight is the most important factor.

Thread hijack

What about shooting 64# with a 29.5 draw? I've always shot the carbon express 360 grain with the 100 grain rage or muzzy but been lookin for something diefferent myself.

I also couldn't pass up the deal I found when buying arrows this year. I was looking for Hunter XT shafts to fletch myself when I ran across a listing on amazon. 6 hunter XT's with feather fletching for 24 bucks. $48 and I have a dozen new XT's on my doorstep. Stripped the feathers and refletched.

Also an upvote on the grim reaper heads.

In my personal opinion, I wouldn't be shooting mechanical if I were you. I'm saying this as a mechanical lover, all I shoot is Rage Xtreme but I'm pulling 70# at 29.5"

You need a lot of KE to get that big broadhead to penetrate. You are shooting significantly less and would probably benefit from a fixed head. This would likely only come in to play when you hit bone

That said, I shoot 70# at 29.5" with a Carbon Express Mayhem Hunter 350gr

I have gold tips. Also have carbon express whitetail. 27 inch draw, 60lbs. Grim reaper 2 inch razor. Really happy with this setup.

He needs anywhere from 50-60 KE, which he's getting around 55-60. The blade itself only need 1 to 3 lbs pressure to open.

ETA: I've seen a 12 year old with a low 40s draw weight take out a deer with a grim reaper mechanical.
