Yeah, I think the XDS would be a great choice. I used to carry mine in a concealed chest rig on ruck runs, and it was much more comfortable than my G19.

Glock 19

I'd steer clear of the VP9. Simply getting it wet can disable it from firing

dont take 1 torture test and apply it to every VP9 ever. glocks can fail torture tests too.

i dunked my vp9 in water and it shot fine.

This. Also, if you don't trust the VP9, the Walther is still there and it kills Glocks imo (in terms of ergos and ease of shooting).

I watched a torture test linked r/guns based on his post and holy shite they beat the shite out of that gun. Note to self, don't bury a gun on creek sand then throw it at metal targets and trees...got it.

Wow

Chamber a round and let it sit submerged for 15-20 seconds

I will when I get my next one. Sold the first so I can rebuy the threaded model when it comes out this year.

Like I said, don't take one torture test as gospel

Not really. Other pistols he has tested passed that pretty easily.

I would assume military trials are even harsher

Haven't shot one in 25 years, but I like my Hi Power and my Bud Light which I'm into.

I love my P2000 LEM and folks have fired 90,000+ rounds through them with very infrequent cleanings and they've performed flawlessly. Watching that in no way changes my opinion of my gun and even if I owned a VP9 it wouldn't then either.

Aubie--I recently traded for an XDS and can recommend it for what you are needing. Don't know if you get many after-hour calls but it's a dandy for carrying comfortably if, by chance, you don't know the clients. Proof in the pudding for me was forgetting it was in my jacket pocket while delivering a calf. It was beyond nasty after that but I cleaned it and fired it the next morning with no problem.

What exactly do you think this would do differently than an unloaded gun. Are you saying that the chamfering a round after you pull it out of the water makes that big of a difference?

I have not seen the video of which you speak.

Torture tests do not translate to real world performance. I doubt I would have to bury my own gun in mud and immediately dig it out to start fighting again. I also doubt I would willingly dunk it in sand or toss it in the ocean.

I get it... You can't plan for the worst so torture tests give people a better feeling of how a gun performs under adverse conditions. I don't really buy into the hype though.

Striker fired guns are a lot less likely to fire when water gets in the striker channel. Hammer fired guns are better when submerged since they strike the firing pin harder and aren't as impeded by water. Then again, I won't ever have to fire my gun under water so again the point is moot.

You never know. I heard this range is opening late September down in Fourchon. The plate rack is the real challenge.

No point in this test. Nobody in the real world will ever need their pistol after swimming with it. The VP9 fits human hands better than any Glock and has a much better trigger. The VP9 looks better also.
