Anybody fish it anymore?

Been years and looking to take yak out for a change. Trying to find some isolation and a quiet day. Have been mainly fishing saltwarer since I moved back south. Any sac a lait in there?

It's salt/brackish. Caught a few reds there last summer but nothing to write home about. It looks exactly like Biloxi marsh fwiw.

I mean inside the levee. There are two launches on hwy 11. East side and west side.

East side has a pavilion and goes into the marsh. West side has been cut off for years from salt water

I'm trying to figure out where you're talking about?

There's a launch on the west side of Hwy 11 inside the levee. It leads to the cut off ponds and Marsh between Hwy 11 and I-10.

I'm not aware of a launch on the east side of 11 with a pavillion. Maybe you mean the east side of Hwy 90(Chef Hwy)? There's one there with a pavilion and leads into the Marsh but again, it's all inside the levee so it's closed off.

I paddled the west side last year about this time and caught some green trout on spinner baits.

There are supposed to be sacs back there too. It is nice and quiet back there and you need to be comfortable with gators. Thinking of going again real soon.

There is an area near the Irish Bayou gas station on the east side where you could put in and paddle to the the brackish side of the refuge. The launch itself is not part of Bayou Sauvage.

There is the one you mention on 11 inside the levee on the west; that i where I've fished out of the yak.

I've never fished the one on the south side of 90, but took a family canoe tour there. It looked OK, I just never went back to fish. Has anyone else fished back here?

ETA: another good option for the brackish side is Lombards boat launch about a mile east of Textron on 90. I've caught green trout and redfish back there by Chico Lagoon and specks in the Bayou Sauvage.

Just looked at map again you are correct. It is inside the levee too. And is off 90 across from the 1 mile loop walking boardwalk.

I'm talking about between I-10 and hwy 11. I do remember lots of gators. They don't scare me much.

I was wondering if he was talking about that also, but then he said "inside the levee" and as you say, the launches at Irish Bayou aren't technically a part of Bayou Sauvage even though "Irish Bayou" is the northernmost end of Bayou Sauvage.
