Bass Fishing - adding scent to lures

Over the years I have never really given scents a chance while bass fishing, anyone find it makes a difference?
Does anyone use them and find it will increase the strike chance or will fish hold on longer which would result in better hook sets?

I have never seen a difference...I am betting they are more attractive to anglers than they are to fish.

that is what i always thought but i am just looking to get confirmation on that thought process.

Used to use bang crawfish scent. Stopped using it and still catch fish.

I pretty much only use it at night and when I'm fishing muddy water. Any time I feel they're unable to use sight as their main hunting sense.
So like 1% of the time.

Only baits I ever used that were scented are the gulp saltwater baits for reds and trout. Only reason I used them is they are manufactured and baisted in that stinky arse liquid for a long time before I use them. I see no way that a spray will stay on past the first inch that it's in the water.

They absolutely work.
I use garlic in the spring and gamefish during the summer, especially night fishing.
Kick-n-bass crawfish at night too sometimes..
Shrimp spray for trout.

I used a garlic aerosol for a couple seasons. I did not notice a big difference.
Quit using it after I layed on the can while trying to catch a nap. Covered the back of my neck and half my back.I smelled like garlic bread for a week.

This. Muddy water and night time mostly. Also, when the fish are biting soft and not holding on to the lure very long I feel like it'll make them stick with it a little longer. But I've kinda gotten away from using it. Been having the same can of garlic scent for a couple years now.

I keep a chartreuse garlic dye in my boat. There has been several occasions when I knew the fish were there and couldn't get a bite that Id dip the claws of a speed craw or baby brushhog in it and start getting bites. Not sure if it's the dye or scent that helps though

When water is cold, it shines at times, and you can tell a difference....Not so much when its warmer.

I use it mainly when punching. The scent I use is an anise oil mixture and it makes the bait slide through easier and allows me to use a smaller weight.
