Particularly the Sabre FTD or Pantera

WHo has one? How do you like it compared with the other big dogs.

Anyone else with experience in one or has first hand experience of a friend/family member with one feel free to chime in.

TIA

My dad has a Pantera. He likes it more than the 2 Rangers he previously had.

Uncle had a Pantera II Bass Cat with 200 Merc. Went 70mph on Lake Ouachita and thought I was going to die. I liked it and would buy that or a Ranger intracoastal if I ever do buy a new bass boat.

I've owned a Pantera Classic and a Sabre FTD. Bass Cat makes great boats. I owned Ranger and Champion also, but the cats were my favorite. If you are buying new, you can get any color combination you want unlike having to chose from only a few colors. The only knock against that size boat is in big water. The extra foot on the pantera would help. The sabre handles like a race car especially with a 175 pushing it. You will take a beating though on bigger lakes like Rayburn.

If you're looking to buy used, the sabre will be much harder to find. Pantera 2's are pretty common on their site https://basscatowners.yuku.com/forums/66/.

My Sabre..

I have bought two brand new bass cats in the past. I will never buy one again. Everything on the boat is sub par. It would be like buying a fiat car....Seems cool at first because only a few people own them, then you quickly realize why only a few people own them.

You are one of the few that I have ever heard who dislikes bass cats.

Phoenix makes a great bass boat if you are looking for something outside the norm of a Skeeter and a Ranger boat around here.

I've fished out of a couple of them a few times. They're legit.

Nice, well built boats. To me, they look a little dated, particularly the console.

You're a strange sob if owning a Fiat seems like a cool thing...

My dad had a Puma for three years and loved it, and he plans on getting another in about year. Ran 79/80 with a full tournament load, and 83 with just him in it

Best looking boats on the market now IMO. Made right across the street from Bass Cat.

I had a '93 Pantera II with a 200 EFI Merc, which happened to be a blue print hull... Thing ran great, handled rough water great, and zero chine walk when hooked up.. Ran 72 on GPS running a 26" Trophy.. When I get new one, It will probably be another Cat...

Nice thing about Bass Cat, they're still an independent company.. Father and son owned.. They usually back up their product...

There is no better feeling than a full tourney load cummin at you.

Fished out of a Legend once. Nicest inshore boat I've ever been on. Apparently not the fastest boats (although bass boats are generally too fast for my comfort level anyway), but really did handle like a dream.

Also think I know someone selling a Cougar right now if the OP is interested in that model. At least he was 3 weeks ago.

I've got a legend 211, definitely not THE fastest, it'll gps at 74. That's fast enough for me and handles big water very well. Fishes great, I would definitely buy another legend if I were to get another bass boat.

If I had to rank them it would be very difficult. But I'd buy a Ranger, Legend, Skeeter, or a Phoenix before Bass Cat. But Bass Cats are damn good boats. Its mostly personal preference nowadays. They're all damn good boats that offer things unique to the brand.

ETA: I own a Ranger and would buy another in a heartbeat. But I'm also seriously considering a Legend for my next boat.
