I have a nice spinning rod for bream, but I want to try a baitcaster. Whats the best for super light tackle?

What do you mean when you say super light?

Baitcasters really don't do well with very light stuff. If you try to cast something light into the wind, you're asking for a very aggravating experience.

This. Baitcasters are not the best tool for light tackle. Especially super light tackle.

Superlight as in a bream set up. Slip bobber hook and cricket.

Such a thing does not really exist.

Put a quarter oz spilt shot and you may be able to get away with it.

Don't try it.

you will hate it. baitcaster is just not designed for that.

if you want to try something fun, get yourself a fly rod.

It exists, it's just a very niche enthusiast thing that would probably not be worth the investment to OP.

The Japanese have a fascination with throwing "micro lures" on BFS, baitcasting finesse setups. It usually involves taking a really expensive or hard to find retro reel and super tuning it with a super light and drilled out aftermarket spool and overpriced bearings.

To the OP, buy a light spinning set-up and be done with it.

As someone who was fidgeting around with this recently after picking up a baitcaster setup, these baws are giving you sage advice.

I finally got it casting the lightweight shite with a little extra weight, but baitcasters really want a little more weight than a bream setup is typically going to require.

If you'll be using small lures under 1/4 oz you need to get the right rod before worrying about reel. Any of the reels will do their part but if the rod is not limber enough you will be constantly frustrated

Pretty sure that is the best case scenario. I’d expect

Just to echo others, baitcasters aren’t made for that.
My two crappie setups are pfluger President XT on a 5’6” Falcon ultralight rod (10 size reel) and a 6’0” Bass Pro Carbonlite (20 size reel)

Can imagine trying to throw jigs with a baitcaster. I just spent some money on a top water rod just to throw lighter hardbaits with a bait caster.

Only three I know of.

Lew’s made a crappie baitcaster for $49 around 2012. I loved that reel and put it on an Allstar 5ft 6” pistol grip rod 6lb to 12 lb line.
The Best Buy.

Diawa Pixy you might find a used one for $99
On eBay and other sites. New they were around $500.
Not as easy to throw light lures as Lews was.

Bass pro made microlite it was so so.
Just never impressed and did not throw light stuff like Lews.

The BP Johnny Morris reels are made by Lews and rebadged, same reels. Musta got a bad one. Unless ya go game, you’re not going to have success or fun chunking anything lighter than 1/4 oz with a baitcaster.

You already have the best setup for super light lures. No reason to make things difficult

Yes Dojo or whatever China or Korean mfg of the week made them both.
The BPS microlight had a larger spool.
The Lews had a smaller lighter spool.
That spool was what made the difference between both reels.

It was junk for bass reel as the graphite frame bent too much.

It was a great crappie reel, h&h spinner reel, or bream with plastic bubble & bream popper reel.

Depends on what the OP means by light tackle. I have a Shimano Citica I use exclusively with weightless flukes with a 6'6" M rod. Works great.

your best bet on a mid range priced baitcaster for lighter baits will be a daiwa tatula sv or a curado 70. Not sure how light you are talking but these can handle 1/4 oz baits no problem with a lighter action rod.
