Ok I've been doing a ton of reading and visiting show rooms lately shopping for a ZTR mower. To date I've narrowed it down to these two machines.

By far my biggest concern is cutting deck durability, so to me these two have the stoutest deck for the price range I'm comfortable financing at this time. I have a 1.5 acres of property to cut, and the majority of it isn't golf course smooth.. I'm upgrading from a Husquarna 2042 Lawn tractor that to I've probably spent close to a grand on replacing deck components over its 3 year life span.

Right now i can get Bad boy Elite ZT for anywhere from 4449-5249.00 depending on which engine/deck size (48"-60") I go with. On the other hand the Kubota Kommander with a 21 HP Kohler engine and 48" deck would be 5783 out the door.

both have the zt3100 transmission. the bad boy has a 7 Gauge fabricated deck while the Kubota has a 10 Gauge fabricated deck. Speed wise the Kubota is 1mph faster forward. The Kubota would come with the LED light kit and Suspension seat. also the Kubota would come with ROPS while the Bab boy doesn't

Kubota requires you have insurance, but doesn't cover any service or wear items. Romero's in New Iberia which carries Bad Boy offers a service plan for 200 a year in which they service it 3 times a year for as long as you pay the service plan price.

I've looked at Ex-mark and wasn't impressed in what I would get in that price range.

Bad Boy Zt Elite

Kubota Kommander

Also, I can get a better 0% term with the Bad Boy

I will say this regarding the Kubotas I own (ZG23 and 27HP Tractor/FE Loader)...they are terrific. I've had no issues with either one outside of routine maint. (oil changes, lubricating, changing blades). Kubota doesn't give their products away but 0% financing is free money so...
If the Kommander is as good as the commercial grade stuff out there already, I wouldn't consider anythign else.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but we have a kubota and an exmark. I don't know the model numbers but they're both about 6 years old. The kubota is light years better than the exmark. We've never had any issues with it. The suspension is incredible on our kubota

I just bought a Kubota Kommander ZG23 about 2 months ago. Price was about what you're looking at for that Z121. 23 hp Kohler engine and 48" cut were all that I needed. I also have about 1.5 acres but most of it is pretty flat. I have to say I love this mower and I'm back to enjoying cutting grass.

I am sure you know but you have a Scag dealer in your backyard.

any reason it isn't in consideration?

Refuse to deal with the owner of that shop, as he has piss poor customer service skills and being dicked over in the past.

Somehow I knew this would be the answer...

I bought a Godevil from him quite a few years ago.

I have owned a Kubota tractor and I would purchase again. Dealt with Sammy Brousssard in New Iberia. No complaints.

Went to Sammy Broussards yesterday to check out the Kommander's. My Grandfather and dad have dealt with them for years.

bought my Kubota RTV from Sammy B in New Iberia. Very good experience and would buy again from him.

however, check out Star Equipment in Hammond as well. Charlie Celino (sp) runs a great store and will deal with you on price in my experience.

I run two tractors, 4 RTVs, and three mowers that are Kubota. All from Charlie Ciolino at Star Power in Hammond. Service after the sale is second to none. Can't speak good or bad about the Bad Boys; I have 0 experience with em.

ETA: when the Kommanders came out, Charlie sent me one to test as a demo - he never got it back.

Well I decided to give the old man a chance and ended up with a Scag Freedom Z 52" with the 27 Brigs commercial engine. Spent a little more then I originally budgeted but couldn't be more satisfied. It's a beast

I know the guy personally and he can be a butt, but he knows his equipment. Loves Briggs engines and Scags. He's really a very good guy but believe me dealing with the general public on a daily basis can ruin even the best man!! Glad u got a Scag, you'll love the Freedom Z... it's a solid mower and they don't come back to the shop at all! Good buy, enjoy it !!

We can't keep bearings in the bad boy.

Kubota is a work horse.
