AR Scope

If I mount a scope from another rifle on an AR, can I use the original mounts? Will I have to purchase mounts specific to the AR?

Depends. I have a 4-12x44 Vortex Crossfire II mounted with normal rings on one AR. My Bushnell 1-4x24 required an offset mount to get it in the right position for me.

Probably be better off using one of the cantilevered mounts. Several out there <$100 which would be fine for an AR15. Gives you more leeway in positioning the scope plus the proper height for AR's

Are the rings for picatinny rails?

This is my question as well. If they aren't designed to mount on a rail I would probably advise getting new rings.
Plus your ring height may be slightly off. The AR rings are positioned to be the proper cheek height and to avoid hitting the charging handle when charging the rifle.
