omg i love them. I have the flat-faced forward set trigger in my M&P9 Performance Shop and it is insane. will get one for a Shield eventually as well. highly recommend them.

I have an Apex trigger set on my shield and a flat trigger on my Sig p320.

Very happy with both.

I was hoping someone would say something like that. I want to put one on my SD9VE to cut the pull length down to a half mile

absolutely going to upgrade my shield with one after I somehow restore funds from this build I am putting together, had one on my last shield and it was almost as good as a 1911 trigger.

Have installed multiple forward set sear and triggers for friends and family.

I also personally have the polymer forward set sear and trigger on my M&P core and my M&P9c. Makes the factory M&P trigger feel like an airsoft gun.

Apex kits are great. I put one in my Shield.

The kit for the SD9 is (I think) just a spring kit.

It's not likely that you'll end up with a trigger as good as what you'd have on an M&P with an Apex kit ........... but for $20 you can't really go wrong.

From what little I know about the SD9VE, the Apex spring kit should reduce the trigger weight by about 2 pounds.

Have the FSS kits on MP9 and MP45. Couldn't recommend enough.

They have a trigger for it that's supposed to reduce pre-travel by 20%, over-travel by 10%, and pull weight by 10-15% I guess in addition to the two lb reduction that the spring kit gives. Trigger is $40, spring is $20.

I get that the heavy trigger and long pull are safety mechanisms, so to speak, but IMHO this thing is ridiculous. (Though, I have very limited experience with handguns.)

Look at the price tag of that gun then compare it to one that law enforcement or the military uses. There's your basic answer.

Yeah I know. I got this thing for Christmas, and it took hardly any research to see all the complaints about the trigger. I have the fortunate (or unfortunate) inability to spend money on myself, so I'm stuck with this...
...unless someone wants to even trade me an M&P.
I'm just trying to make the best of what I got.

Not quite sure what all this means (nor do I need to know). But I would point out that you're not "stuck" with it unless you really want to be.

Trying to trick out a S&W SD pistol is akin to the proverbial task of "making a silk purse out of a pig's ear." It'll still be pork.

You can find police trade-ins of tier-one pistols at places like CDNN and others. The best of all worlds for used handguns (despite what a 1911 fanboy might post ) is a Glock - for the following reasons:

1. Glocks are highly reliable. No one with any real knowledge of handguns will dispute this.

2. Of equal importance to you (since you indicated that you have limited experience with handguns), is the fact that you can buy a used Glock and send it to the Glock factory in Smyrna, GA to be refurbished.

The factory gunsmiths will give it a complete inspection and a complete "overhaul" (they'll replace any part that's worn and any part that has been re-designed/improved since your gun was manufactured), and ship the gun back to your doorstep --- all at zero cost. (All you'll pay is the cost of shipping the gun from your house to them.)

You'd end up with a gun that's as good as new, and still has a lifetime warranty against defects and against wearing out -- but you won't pay what a new one would cost.

There are other police trade-ins available occasionally (M&Ps, SIGs, H-Ks). But I'm not sure if their factories will provide the same inspection/refurbish service at zero cost.

Anyway -- you can find some really reliable pistols with good triggers at pretty low prices if you look for them. (Your SD is a far better pistol than the old Sigma's, but it's just not a top-tier handgun like the Glocks, M&Ps, SIGs and H-Ks.)

Just my $.02 worth
