I seem to have misplaced my old boresighter kit that I've used for a few decades. Anyone use one of these newfangled laser jobs that looks like a cartridge? Do they work well enough to get me on the paper at 25 yds?

you can't just pull the bolt out and look down the barrel for 25 yards?

Do you have a bench or shooting sled to place your gun on so it won't move?

It's not a bolt-action rifle.

Gotcha. If you have a gun vice you could try to fire at something large and then sight the scope on your bullet hole to get close

I have the one from wheeler engineering. It's a magnet that sticks to the end of your barrel, works for all guns. I like it.

I have used the bullet ones, and they always move around inside the closed chamber. The one I use sticks in the end of your barrel and has a checkered pattern thing on it that looks like a scope. You look through your scope into the thing, and it is pretty close to on. I've used it for maybe 5 guns, and it works every time.

Here it is LINK

I have both. The bullet one is good if say you use a 30 cal for just 30 cal rifles. One has to buy for each cal rifle to work good.

The one that mounts in the end of a barrel is good too!. It will get you within 2" at 25 yards.

Thanks. I ordered a .30cal for my .308. If it sucks, I'm only out $20.

They arent worth the money. Buy more ammo with the price of the boresight. At 25 yds every factory rifle will hit paper unless your barrel is bent.

Shoot 1 shot at the bulls eye at 25 yds
Adjust scope
Shoot second shot at 25 yds and if you hit where you want you are ready to sight in at 100 yds with 3 shot groups.

This is the one I have used for the past 10-12 years. Has always worked well for me.

This does nothing for you if the scope isn't aligned.

I the last two rifles I bought were supposedly bore sighted when the scope was put on and in both cases they were way off.

Nothing will make you madder than having to sight in a muzzleloader that won't hit paper at 25 yards.

it will get you on paper

they are also nice for boresighting a red dot scope...adjust the scope dot till it covers the boresighter dot and you are pretty much dead on, at least at 25yds

I have an older basic type laser bore sight. Mine has adaptors that will fit several calibers. It fits into the end of the rifle barrel. I like it primarilly for new scopes or if I tranfer a scope to another rifle. The laser bore sight will get me on the paper and from there I live fire to zero in on the bulls eye.
