Dude. What kind of fishing are you doing that requires protecting your hands from rocks?

Wading in swift current and using my hands for balance if needed, pulling the boat up over rocks using a rope, etc.

I use them during kayak racing events to keep the sun off my hands and to help grip the paddle. Never used for fishing, but work well for my use.
Columbia is the brand I use.

I have several different pair for different seasons or applications. Thin Magellan brand for summer yak fishing for freshwater or inshore. Thicker Buff brand ones for offshore fishing. Fingerless wool gloves for wintertime fishing or duck hunting.
I used to think they were unnecessary and excessive, but now I don't leave home without them. In the summer they keep the sun off my hands and protect me from line cuts, fish fins and hooks. In the winter they do all of that and keep my hands warm and functional even when wet.

I have some old work gloves that I cut the fingers off and use most of the time. Main reason is to keep gnats and skeeters off.

I wear a pair of Simm's but they're for warmth when there's ice building up on my rod. They've been fantastic and I have no reason to believe that their SunGloves would not also be great. I should wear them just for the sun protection.

I use Magellan in summer as well. I can't paddle feathered without them. Wet hands paddling 6+ miles = blisters.
