I have 4 bucks on my camera and I finally went out this past weekend. I had a chance to shoot a doe Friday and Saturday, but didn't. I thought for sure if a buck didn't come out then I would shoot a doe on Sunday. Well, nothing came out Sunday and I'm SOL. With the flooding I'm not sure how many more chances I'll get. I'm kicking myself now.

Update: I was able to make a hunt Saturday and I got a doe.

Once and only once. I downed a nice wall hanger of a buck years ago and don't even display the wall mount anymore (I got euro mount). Now, I would rather go for the does, let the other camp members take the bucks, and work on our doe tags. I get more deer, which is what I want, and they get their trophies, which is what some of them want.

you can't eat the horns.

in the 15 minutes after I shot my buck the other day, I had 4 deer come out in the same spot

I killed a big doe a couple weeks ago in the morning. My son killed one that evening out of my stand. She was nosing the gut pile from mine.

I got a brand new bow im december. Second hunt with it i had 6 does walk under me, one with a broken leg. Let them walk because i had enough meat in the freezer and was just looking for a mature buck. Lookig back at it i should have shot the one with the broken leg. Was moving pretty slow. Probably wont last long, if the coyotes havent found her yet.

You never pass on something the first day that you would be glad to shoot on the last day.

Have passed on a doe close to the end of the season, with full intentions of killing one, only to not see any more and regret it - several times.

This past weekend I missed shooting one with two yearlings only because she winded me and left. I then saw two bucks in the next ten minutes, the second of which is now in the ice chest. Didn't regret it this time, but it was a major exception to the rule.

I passed on plenty does and a few legal bucks this year because I thought I shot enough. The season in Arkansas closed and I gave away more meat than I thought I would. I wish I would have shot another doe or two.

I'm ok with passing on the bucks; they will be better next year.

I agree. Should've taken the shot.

I've went a few years without putting one on the ground because I'll get one with the black powder or bow during the split. I regret not shooting 2-3 in the first few weeks of the season every year when given the opportunity.

As an off-shoot, what does the OB think about shooting does with yearlings. I am allowed 1doe per season in one of my leases. Passed on 10 today, either young deer or with yearlings. I am worried about a Morganza opening and season shut down. Any opinions? Shoot/don't shoot and reasons. Thanks

If the yearlings are eating grass and there's more than one doe together I have no problem taking out the momma. I never liked when I shot a doe and the yearlings never left the side of the dead doe.

I should have shot 20 this year. Passed so many just to have someone else show up and kill them

I trophy hunt, but for the sake of saving money on groceries I decided to take doe. I waited on the last weekend of the season and almost didn't kill one. We had terrible hunting weather this past weekend. I wish I had shot a couple back in early November.

I typically hunt trophies too but I'll kill 2 or 3 does a year to fill the freezer. But we see TONS of does. I think we have too many but my FIL and his brother don't want to thin them out
