Anyone own an ISUP?

Tested one out last weekend and I was very impressed. Red Paddle Co seems to be the best reviewed but also the most expensive.

I keep one at the beach and I am looking to keep one on the boat (inflatable). That's the only times I ever use them. Its good exercise and gives me something to do when the family is just hanging around at the beach or on the boat(not the fishing boat).

I don't see it as being much different than someone with a Kayak.

I can comfortably drink beer and fish from a yak without looking like a douchebag.

If it's just for exercise then I get it. I prefer to fish while in a kayak

The hole Crossfit cult here is really getting into the whole paddle board trend. Once one got one, they are all getting them now. I wish I sold them

Screw the haters. They look fun. But damn, $1000 is steep for an inflatable.

I'm looking to get one soon myself. From what I've heard people like the jimmy stix inflatable from costco. And several have said they use a Seyvler and like them.

I'm probably gping to go with a rigid as i won't be packing it on the boat.

You can fish off an SUP. Strap your shite down. Set up your cooler as a seat. See guys using them down at my beach house. I prefer my kayak though.

I own two, one for me, one for the missus. They're the cheap Aqua Marina brand ones like here.

LINK

I love them. I can bring them when I fly, easy to inflate (if you get an automatic pump), durable. Mine developed a small air bubble on the bottom for no real reason, but it's cosmetic and doesn't affect performance for a casual SUP'er like myself.

Good workout and way to get out on the water.

I have a Tower ISUP. Cheap. Works well. Woot always seems to have them in the off season for $499. Doesn't glide as well as our hard board and sits out of the water higher. The glide shouldn't be surprising since mine is only a 9'6". Definitly slower. No frills, i.e. no bungee attachments to lash stuff to it though you can add them later if needed. We've been very happy with it. Love the iSUP more than our hard board because it's so much easier to transport.

As to why a SUP? I have a kayak and a SUP. Both have their places. If I want to just get from point A to point B the Kayak is the tool. But if I want a relaxing stroll around the lake or want to tool around past the surf in the gulf the SUP is my preference. The SUP gives your legs more of a workout which is nice from a fitness standpoint. But the higher viewpoint of the SUP just can't be beat by a Kayak for taking in your surroundings. It's amazing how much more stuff you can see in the water with the SUP, which is awesome for the gulf. I see way more dolphins and sting rays while on a SUP v. our Kayak in the gulf. It's hard to describe but paddling around on the SUP is just more relaxing than paddling around on a Kayak. I see our Kayaks are more of a tool to fish or travel. Our SUPs are more of a toy to tool around and relax on.

I've thrown a low height folding chair on our SUP before and used a kayak paddle with it. Way more comfortable than any Kayak I've ever paddle on

Yep.

SUPS are the roller blades of the 2010's.

Pretty sure it's SUP law that you have to wear some lame arse bucket hat, too or something.

I usually deck out in Columbia or Orvis while on my SUP, but I'm not a crossfitter.

Thanks to everyone for the helpful responses. I'm going to look into some of the mid-tier boards that were suggested. And as always, thank you Chad504 for your excellent posts.

By the way, I had roller blades way before 2010.
