Working on an outside project on my porch. Building a bar under it and looked all over for some finished wood besides pine and couldn't find any. Decided to buy some rough cut cedar and bought a planer from Lowes to clean and straighten the boards up. I had no idea they made a consumer model planer besides the little handheld ones.
It'll do boards up to 12 1/2" wide. I planed the boards and also planed the edges. Little machine did some solid work.

only paid $269 for it. Dewalt,Rigid and several other companies make similar models that cost around $400.

Evidently the Porter Cable is a rebadged Delta

Now that i have the machine i can forsee new projects that will be pretty cool to do with this machine. It's one of those tools you don't need but opens up new possibilities for projects. I'm thinking my next tool will be a jointer.

Don't have one, but want one badly. You can make some nice cutting boards.

Huh, I hate Porter Cable for the most part but that looks like just the Delta. Been waiting on a used Ridgid to pop up for less than 250 on CG or Facebook.

it is. Same cutting blades and everything. I researched it pretty well before pulling the trigger. You should see the pile of cedar shavings i have after running only 6 boards through it. I had it on my tailgate and the pile was as high as my tailgate.

I have this Dewalt DW735, its a beast.

Latest project was pecky cypress barn doors that the wife couldn't live without and a cypress writers desk for my son's room.

I have the same Porter cable. It does a decent job. I built a 6 foot outdfeed/indeed table to try and reduce the snipe... It didn't work.

Extra 1/2" of width. Little more robust frame with extra little knick-knacks.

Same motor, same amount/quality of knives. Extra $250, according to HD, doesn't make sense to me.

Been getting into Ridgid products big time. They listen to the consumer and update their products yearly based on consumer reviews. Take for instance the 2014 compact router vs. the 2015.

Plus the Lifetime Service Agreement.

basically the only way to prevent it is to raise the material by hand at the end. Having a 6' table won't do much for end sniping.

I've tried that too. I don't notice much difference. There's a few videos on YouTube with some ideas I want to try. Like using some little stop blocks that the rollers sit on so the head can't tilt when the board enters it.

I have a Dewalt DW735, its a bad mofo, shoots woodchips 20' it you dont have a dust hose hooked up to it. I'm going with some carbide tipped blades when I get new ones. I bought it for $300 practically brand new from a paw shop.

Last longer is all and yes they do make them for your model.

Infinity Tools

As far as eliminating snipe. I run a piece of sacrificial wood through with my stuff.

Probably gonna have to send them back to the manufacturer. That's what we recommend with the Freud router bits and saw blades we sell. Carbide is sensitive.

Be careful with a Table top joiner. A buddy of mine has the same model I can tell you he's at my house using my 8 inch joiner regularly he finds this is just too small to be effective with most lumber. It seems the infield and outfield table are just too small to be effective for most lumber

Theres a guy near me that sharpens them, I dont have a jig to do it. He charges $1 per inch, thats $39 for me, I can but a set for that price. That sounded dirty coming out.

I have the Dewalt 735 as well. It's been a great machine and has never given me an ounce of trouble.

Between it, my 8" jointer, and table saw I can buy rough lumber very cheap and have it ready to go in no time.
