Anyone own a Panga?

After reading the swordfish thread I'm heavily intrigued by the Panga

It's more of learning to putt than beating it deep off the tee

I rode and fished out of them. Offshore, in a 2'-3' gulf slop, they take it sweet. The only draw back to me is that they do rock a bit more at rest.

They do take less HP to run them. If you can get past the way they look with that big bow which helps keep you dry, then go for it. It is a proven boat for offshore. Go on the west coast of Mexico, that is what they use.

I don't have one yet. I've been in an IMEMSA 25 and it was an eye opening experience. They mostly skip along the surface on their delta-v pad. There is enough bow in the front to provide stability when heading into waves. In rough surf the bow will pop up but they are long, slender boats, and it seems natural. It's more like a motorcycle than a cruise ship, but they are fun to operate. Also, in the Mexican boats, there is a large ring of flotation at the gunnel, which should allow the boat to stay upright even if it is filled with water. They aren't luxury but they are solid and highly versatile boats.

Used to have a trolling motor on a 22 ft hydra sport cc. It works. Biggest thing to remember is how often are you trolling in 1-2 ft waves outside? In that scenarios I'm usually staying protected which eliminates that issue.
