I'm thinking of getting it. It would only be for Hog Hunting at night in the Spring. I can't hunt in the summer. Too damn hot.

Looks can be deceiving. I tried one and it was a POS. I mounted it on my 300 blackout and every shot the screen would get fuzzy for 1-2 seconds which killed any chance of a follow up shot. Even with the firmware upgrade the battery life is horrible. I found the Photon XT to be a better overall scope without all the extra bells and whistles. By no means is the Photon XT as good as the 3-5K thermal but you can kill shite with it after dark and not break the bank.

I just picked up a Photon XT the other weekend. I saw it had a lot of good reviews for a budget NV. I looked through it at night and it seemed pretty good for what it is. Haven't shot it yet so I hope it works out. I don't night hunt enough to justify a 3K NV or thermal.

Anyone use this at night when you're walking in, looking for other game? Or is it too unwieldy to use when you're on the move? Sometimes I wish I had a pair of thermal binocs when i'm walking in to duck hunt. Probably not worth 10k though.

Maybe a dumb question but is it a day/night scope?

Another thing to be careful of, clarity is everything. Bear population is rising in Louisiana and surrounding states. Some people already have a hard time telling bears from hogs in low light. On a fuzzy arse screen, it would be near impossible.

It's advertised as a day/night, but I wouldn't use it during the day for anything other than sighting in. It looks just like it does at night except it's a little brighter.

Well, I went ahead and ordered the ATN X-Sight. I joined an ATN group on Facebook and they have guys on there who can direct you on how to properly work it. There are constant firmware updates as well to improve some of the problems people were having. I'll update once it comes in and I can get it to the range. I'm going to put it on a 300 Blackout I pieced together to hunt pigs at night.

Wait for the reviews to come out on the new Thor HD. If it works out as good as advertised it could be a game changer for thermal.
