A senior baseball player at Breaux Bridge (LSUE signee) was shot today. I’ve heard conflicting stories. Anyone hear any details?

Gofundme for the story, no details

Was this a hunting accident or was he the victim of a crime?

I’ve heard both, hunting accident and some kind of altercation.

Seems like if it was an accident, it would have been stated in the description.

Those injuries sound catastrophic. If this kid pulls through it will be a miracle.

Def not hunting related. A pistol being handled carelessly at a cookout. Terrible situation.

This is a version of one story I heard, but not the pistol or cookout part. I heard the shooter didn’t believe it was real, pointed it at the kid and pulled the trigger.

I hope that this isn’t true because if someone really did point a gun at him and pull the trigger, not thinking it’s real, he should go to prison. Damn that infuriates me. That kid and families life is ruined because of sheer carelessness and stupidity.

This is F’n crazy if true and the shooter deserves every day he spends in prison.

Yes. But didn't intentionally point and shoot. Underage kid, probably with alcohol, with no respect for a weapon. Very sad situation.

Every father's duty to teach a kid how dangerous a gun can be.

The most dangerous gun of all - the one you think is unloaded...or "not real" in this case.

My brother had a similar neck injury although his spinal cord wasn't severed. He lasted 5 months on the ventilator but never was able to recover and passed away 3 days before Christmas. I know what this family will be/is going through and it is terrible for everyone.

More prayers sent up for this young man and his family. My wife teaches in Breaux Bridge and the whole community is in shock and disbelief. Quadriplegia on a vent will require 24-hour care by skilled medical professionals. The biggest fear is a pulmonary embolism due to physical inactivity and poor circulation.
