Bought my First Lite gear on their cyber Monday sale. Decided to break down and buy good base layer gear. Freakin love it. Used it yesterday morning duck hunting in the 18 degree weather, and ended up taking off my jacket in the blind.

Do the sizes run larger, smaller or true to what you expect them to?
This thread has got me interested in ordering some of this for a base layer. How will it do for really cold, like down in the single digits and below 0?

I bought the Merino 230g bottoms on cyber Monday and wore them in some low to mid 20s temps in Kansas a couple weeks ago. My legs are always cold and I wore these with just a pair of Mountain Khakis and I was warm. Size for these seems to be true to fit. I'm about 6'1" with 32" waste and the M fits me well. I'll definitely be going back to First Lite for any other cold weather clothing I need.

Everything I have is true to size except the Chama. It fits weird. It's really short. Wouldn't recommend buying that.
Down to 40, I wear llano, Sitka kelvin vest, Sitka shell jacket, and allegheny bottoms with breathable uninsulated waders. That's 90% of my hunting.

The "I shop better than you" crowd will probably chime in and say you can get the same thing for cheaper, which may be true. First Lite is really quality stuff though, and very war
I didn't "shop" for mine but I did get some Minus33 merino wool base layers for Christmas this year. I compared them to First Lite and they are pretty much the exact same from the specifications on each garment. The Minus33 is only a little bit cheaper than First Lite. I think my wife got mine from Amazon.

Any experience with the First Lite outwear, like bibs? Do you have any Sitka pants or bibs? If so, what model?

My deer hunting pants are First Lite in ASAT. I think the model is Kanab. I like them a lot but they're not windproof or waterproof. I don't bowhunt nearly as much as I used to though, so it's not as much of an issue for me. If I hunted more, I'd get their waterproof pants or some bibs.
I also don't deer hunt enough to spend Sitka money on deer gear, but i have their gradient pants for duck hunting. My girlfriend gave them to me for Christmas last year and it's only been cold enough for me to wear them like four times. I wear those gradients over the allegeny anytime it's below freezing. If you have neoprene waders, the allegheny bottom alone should be fine. I've never had a pair of bibs to duck hunt with just because I always wear waders. The gradient isn't waterproof or windproof either. Just an insulating layer.

So it won't stay tucked in? I have that problem with my UA base layers. Any top that is longer?

Yeah man it's annoying. It's a good 3" shorter than the Llano. Don't buy it.
The only other First Lite baselayer top I have experience with is the Halstead fleece. I got that one for Christmas this year and so far I love it. It fits a little looser than the merino layers, but is meant to be an insulating layer. Haven't had it long enough to test the durability of it, but I've had the Llano for like 5 years now and it's held up fine in the washer. I also wear it as a solo layer during early bow season.
